Mr. Lyman Latray Mayfield

Memorial services for Lyman Latray Mayfield, 62, of Houston, Texas, formerly of Kilgore, Texas, will be held on Saturday, June 7, 2025, at noon at Mt. Pleasant Christian Methodist Episcopal Church in Kilgore. Floral offerings can be sent to Victory Funeral Services, 1004 Martin Luther King Drive, Kilgore, TX 75662.

Lyman Latray Mayfield was born August 31, 1962, and passed away May 13, 2025, leaving behind a legacy of love, simplicity, and a deep connection to the outdoors and the people he cherished the most.

A proud son of Kilgore, Texas, Tray carried his hometown pride with him throughout his life. He found peace in the quiet moments—feeding birds on the patio, walking through the woods, or sitting by the water with a fishing pole in hand. A true outdoorsman, Tray had a deep love for deer and spent many seasons hunting, not just for sport, but for the time it gave him in nature, where he felt most at home.

He played football in high school and remained a passionate sports fan, especially loyal to his Houston Texans. Tray was almost always seen in his many camouflage shirts and hats—a small sign of the simple, grounded life he lived, and loved.

He was happiest in Chapel Hill, surrounded by family and friends. He was a loving son, a trusted friend, a dedicated husband, a proud father, and a caring brother. His presence brought comfort, and his absence leaves an irreplaceable space in the hearts of those who knew him.

Tray was a loving and devoted husband to Misty Mayfield, his wife of nearly 25 years. Together, they built a life full of love and laughter. He was also a proud father to his daughter, Morgan Mayfield, and his two sons, Conner Mayfield and Wayne Miller, who carry forward his quiet strength and steady love.

Tray is preceded in death by his mother, Juliet Mayfield.

He leaves to cherish his memory; his wife, Misty Mayfield, his children, Morgan Mayfield, Conner Mayfield, and Wayne Miller; his father, Rev. Alvin Mayfield; his brother, Dana Mayfield (Janice); and his sisters, Diann Harper, Adalia Richmond (Sammie), and Chiquita Killingsworth (Virgil). He is also remembered with love by a host of nieces, nephews, and extended family and friends.
