Have you heard of Diabetic Retinopathy?

If you or a loved one is managing diabetes, we urge you to stay diligent with your eye exams. Together we can help preserve your vision.

�Diabetic Retinopathy is an eye condition caused by damage to the tiny blood vessels in the retina. When someone has chronically high blood sugar, it can cause the vessels to swell, leak, or close off, and lead to vision problems and blindness.

Dilated eye exams are key to detecting this early. Diabetic Retinopathy often has no early symptoms, so the only way to detect it before lasting damage is done is by having annual dilated eye exams. If you’re due for an exam, give us a call today.

This Diabetes Awareness Month, we want to recognize the importance of managing your vision while you are also managing diabetes.

Diabetes can lead to diabetic retinopathy, which is the leading cause of blindness for adults in lower and middle age brackets, and it can also cause cataracts and glaucoma to develop earlier and progress more quickly than it does in people without diabetes.

That’s why routine eye exams (every year unless directed otherwise by your doctor!) are essential to catching any changes early, before they permanently affect your sight. Are you due for an exam? Schedule your appointment today!
