๐ฅถ As temperatures drop, we remind our community to take extra steps to protect pets and animals during extreme cold conditions.
๐พ Bring pets indoors whenever possible
๐พ Ensure animals have proper shelter, adequate food, and unfrozen water
๐พ Check vehicles for cats or small animals seeking warmth before starting engines
๐พ Report animals left in unsafe or neglected conditions
โ ๏ธ๐งโ ๏ธPlease also be aware that rock salt can be harmful to pets. It may cause paw irritation or chemical burns, and if ingested can lead to drooling, vomiting, diarrhea, seizures, or even death.
๐งAnimals rely on us for their safety. If you believe an animal is being neglected, please call๐ Dare Central at 252-473-3444 to speak with an Animal Control Officer. Letโs work together to keep our pets and animals safe during these frigid temperatures.๐พ๐ถ๐ฑ
