I was JUST thinking today about how people have no clue what had to be done to even try to get a decent Medicaid situation (that we didn't request but needed to be at the table) in Connecticut. Now, after all these years of advisory teams, and legislation, families in the state who receive Husky benefits can access Doulas who will be paid through Medicaid. And the work is still not done. One of my best birth “secrets” that I tell my clients, labor at home as long as you can and eat a healthy and protein packed meal

Once you leave the house and head to the hospital, it’s possible your labor will slow down and you may not be able to eat

But if you are allowed, bring good snacks with you cause labor could be long and you’ll get hungry and need the energy/nutrients

Why Did I Get Into Birth Work?

-While for some the question may have a simple answer, mine is a bit more complex
-I started off wanting to be an OBGYN, then I figured being a Labor & Delivery Nurse would be a quicker way to help mamas out
-I then realized I’d be more of a help if I become a Midwife
-So after having a midwife for my 1st delivery, I searched for a doula and midwife for my 2nd baby
-I had an amazing homebirth experience with them and shortly after became a doula
-My ultimate goal is to help decrease the maternal mortality rate for black and brown women
-I’ve been a doula since 2020, but started my business in 2022
-I’ve witnessed many babies come earth side, I’ve assisted countless numbers of mamas with their pregnancies
-While most of my doula work has been virtual, I’ve still touched the lives of many
-I spend most of my time educating people about all things pregnancy and birth related
-I absolutely LOVE what I do!!

ITS A GIRL!!!! Born at 2:02am, Kobe’s Kare Doula Services assisted a rockstar who took charge of her own birth. Long labor with very minimal interventions. Facing her fears, mom pushed her baby out in less than 10minutes. Weighing 6lbs 14oz, mom and baby are doing well. Breastfeeding like a champ. Congratulations to the parents
