Harper-Talasek Funeral Home Killeen

Harper-Talasek Funeral Home Killeen In 1965 (Dan C. Our management and staff are all local residents and many are retired military.

Harper and Rueben Talasek) bought the Chanslor-Young Funeral Home, located at North Gray and Rancier Ave.This location had been used as a funeral home and residence for many years.During the early years the funeral home also ran an ambulance service serving the Killeen area from the same location. Shortly after the purchase, plans were made to move from the downtown and build a new modern funeral

home. This came to fruition in 1972.Two acres of land were purchased on 38th street just north of KilleenHigh School.Construction commenced in 1972.The new building along with a two bedroom home was completed and occupied with a community wide open house in may 1973. We are members of community organizations, veterans groups and local churches, serving on their boards and committees. Harper-Talasek has enjoyed growth from it’s inception; always willing to be the first to step up and be counted when it came to the good of the families they served or the community in which they live, raising their families.

Kelvin Xavier Colon, age 42, of Killeen, passed from this life Wednesday, July 30, 2025. Services will be held at Harper-Talasek Funeral Home in Killeen on Saturday, August 9, with a visitation starting at 1 pm and service immediately following at 2 pm.
Kelvin was born on April 5, 1983, to Felicita Arroyo and George Colon in Lawrence, Massachusetts. Kelvin may have been the youngest of the bunch, but he carried the heart of a big brother; protective, loyal, and always ready with a joke (usually inappropriate, but always hilarious). He had that rare superpower of getting away with just about anything, and somehow we all let him, because you just couldn't stay mad at Kelvin. His laugh could fill a room, his food could fill your soul, and his love could fill every gap life ever left. Whether he was in the kitchen baking something sweet or out in the wild with his boots and his favorite gun, he lived life boldly and with purpose. He cared harder than most, cooked better than all of us, and he never let you leave hungry or unloved. He was a family in every sense of the word - funny, warm, a little wild, and absolutely unforgettable.
Kelvin was preceded by his father, George Colon, two nephews, Brian Clark and Jose Acevedo, and maternal grandmother, Francisca Arroyo.
Survivors include his mother, Felicita Arroyo; wife, Christina Marie Calzetta; son, Dante Berrios; daughter, Emily Colon; brother, Carlos Miranda; sisters, Brenda Rivera and Maria Miranda; and many nieces and nephews.
A special message from Kelvin to his beloved family and friends:
“To all my family and friends, who have come from far and close, you have made this possible to get together and make every lasting memory of me to be heard and seen. I will miss you all, but I’m now in a better place. I know you don’t want to hear this, but God had a place and time for me.”
Though his time with us was far too short, his impact was immeasurable. He lived with a passion and presence that filled every room, and his memory will forever echo in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.
Gone too soon, but never forgotten.
