Dear Friends:

As many of you know, I have been in private practice serving the eye care needs of my community for over 40 years. After much prayer, family discussion and mixed emotions, I have decided to sell my practice and join the ranks of the retired, or perhaps I should say the semi-retired.
Dr. Tommy Lucas of First Eye Care Killeen purchased my practice. I will begin working at First Eye Care on June 6th and 7th and will see patients on Mondays and Tuesdays.
Friends, this was not an easy decision for me but I know and trust Drs. Lucas, Reyes and Kocian will continue to care for my patients as I have. In fact, they saw patients in my office when I was hospitalized during my illness.
You may pick up your records, eyeglasses and contact lenses until May 31st. Afterwards, they will be available at First Eye Care Killeen located at 3124 E. Central Texas Expressway or you may contact me through e-mail at draruiz@yahoo.com to arrange delivery.
It has been my honor and privilege to care for the eye care needs of my family, friends and community for all of these years. I want to thank all of my friends/patients for placing your trust in me and allowing me to provide eye care to you and your family.

Responsibilities of this position include but are not limited to the following:

an optician with experience frame styling and helping choose lens options for patients
dispensing and adjusting glasses to better fit patients
ability to make minor repairs on frames
ordering jobs through the lab
filing glasses claims with vision insurance
working well with lab and frame reps
knowledge of Essilor/Varilux lenses helpful
use of electronic medical records (Knowledge of Officemate/ExamWriter helpful)

We are a private optometry practice located in Killeen, TX. We are seeking a full-time, Optometric Technician who is responsible, fun, friendly, and who loves patient care and people as much as we do!

Job Duties

Greet patients and ensure they enjoy an amazing experience on every visit.
Schedule patients and verify vision benefits or insurance coverage.
Manage continuous patient flow by effectively communicating with team members.
Prepare exam room for patient exams (disinfect and wipe down all sinks, equipment and instruments)
Perform technical duties such as
take detailed patient histories including current medical conditions.
Perform tests using equipment for auto-refraction, lensometry, tonometry, glaucoma and visual fields screenings.
Measure visual acuities,
train new contact lens patients.
Perform other duties the optometrist may delegate. Work with positivity and enthusiasm.

Who are we looking for:

A person with an energetic, upbeat and friendly personality with a genuine interest in helping people.

1+ years of experience in an optometry office preferred.

Flexible schedule - Must be able to work full time Monday-Friday with occasional alternating Saturdays.

Detail-oriented, self-motivated, accountable, with basic computer skills required.

High School graduate or equivalent preferred
Professional appearance
Experience as an optometric technician a strong plus
Bilingual in English and Spanish a plus.
