Just found out that I have been blocked from this group. Why is it that everytime I want to develop a collaboration with these group owners, they decide to block me. Probably one of the many people who purchased my book. Now they wanna make sure I can’t say well that’s in my book. Followed the Rules, no self promotion, even got a badge. Do to being active in the group. I guess I got too much interaction. Time to start my own group… where everything is allowed no limits.

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW ABOUT REIMBURSEMENT.

Third-party payers support music therapy when it's medically necessary and part of a documented, goal-oriented treatment plan, often using codes like HCPCS code G0176 for activity therapy in partial hospitalization programs, and various CPT codes, such as 97530 (Therapeutic Activities) and others from the 908xx (Psychotherapy) or 9615x (Health and Behavior) series. Reimbursement varies by payer and state, and specific codes must often be pre-approved by a case manager to determine medical necessity.

Types of services and supporting codes
Medical necessity is key: Music therapy is covered when deemed reasonable and necessary for a patient's physical, psychological, cognitive, or emotional needs, and is not purely recreational.

Partial Hospitalization Programs (PHP): Since 1994, music therapy has been a reimbursable "Activity Therapy" under PHP, using HCPCS code G0176 (Activity therapy, such as music, dance, art or play therapies not for recreation, related to the care and treatment of a patient's disabling mental health problems, per session).

Commonly used CPT codes:
97530: Therapeutic Activities, one-on-one, each 15 minutes. This is a very common code used in practice.
90834 and 90837: These are psychotherapy codes used for sessions lasting approximately 45 and 60 minutes, respectively.

96150-96155: Health and behavior codes, which include assessment and intervention. The intervention codes (used in 15-minute increments) are for face-to-face contact related to physical health problems.

Other codes, like 97124 (Therapeutic procedures) or 92507 (Family counseling), may also be applicable depending on the specific service provided.
Important considerations for reimbursement

Case-by-case basis: Many insurance companies, including commercial and Medicaid waivers, reimburse on a case-by-case basis after reviewing medical necessity and the treatment plan.

Pre-authorization: It is critical to get approval from the insurance company's case manager before providing the services to ensure they will be covered.

Documentation is crucial: You must have a documented, goal-directed treatment plan with clear objectives to justify the service. You also need to be a qualified provider with an active NPI number.

State-specific variations: Reimbursement practices can vary significantly by state. It is recommended to network with other music therapists in your region to understand what has been successful for them. 🤖

FYI: SOUND HEALING/MEDITATION PRACTITIONERS ARE INNATE TO THIS PRACTICE.

Sound healing uses vibrations from instruments like singing bowls to promote relaxation, reduce stress, and improve well-being, but it is not a substitute for conventional medical treatment. While research shows potential benefits for issues like anxiety and pain, it is not regulated by a single governing body, meaning standards are self-imposed. Individuals with serious medical conditions should consult a doctor before using sound therapy.

Use of sound healing
Complementary therapy: Sound healing is used to complement, not replace, medical and mental health treatments.

Mental and emotional benefits: It can help with stress, anxiety, and emotional balance, as evidenced by studies showing a reduction in distress and improvements in mood regulation.

Physical benefits: Potential physical benefits include improvements in blood pressure, heart rate, and pain/tension relief.

Mechanism: The vibrations from instruments like singing bowls, gongs, and tuning forks can affect the nervous system, potentially by inducing relaxation through brainwave entrainment and stimulating the vagus nerve.

Specific applications: Some studies suggest potential benefits for conditions like autism and insomnia, though more research is needed.

Potential government regulation and medical integration
Lack of regulation: Currently, sound healing is a self-regulated field without a single international governing body that issues licenses or sets standards.

👉🏾( Once the government gets involved, the quality of the practitioners goes down because now it’s a money grab).

👉🏾👉🏾Medical integration: As evidence of its benefits grows, sound therapy is becoming more integrated into wellness and therapeutic practices. For example, some governments are beginning to include music therapy in medical insurance. 👈🏾👈🏾 The insurance companies are not pushing for regulations yet.

Need for caution: Because it is not a regulated medical treatment, practitioners do not diagnose conditions or perform medical treatment. It is essential to consult a healthcare professional , especially if you have a serious medical condition, to ensure sound therapy is a safe and appropriate complementary therapy for you.

Safety and contraindications
Consult a healthcare professional : It is advisable to speak with a primary care healthcare practitioner before using sound therapy, particularly if you have conditions like cardiac arrhythmia, epilepsy, or implanted devices.

Pregnancy: Pregnant women should be cautious, as the release of hormones like oxytocin could potentially stimulate early labor, and vibrations might affect a fetus. It is best to discuss this with a practitioner and modify the session by, for example, sitting further from the instruments.

Not a substitute: Sound healing should not be used in place of evidence-based medical or mental health care. 🤖

REIKI & THE CHAKRA HISTORY

Chakras and Reiki came together as a fusion of two distinct systems, driven by Western adoption of Reiki after its founder, Mikao Usui, passed away.

While Reiki originated in Japan and focuses on balancing life force energy (ki), the chakra system originates from ancient Indian traditions and wasn't part of the original Reiki teachings.

However, it was integrated because the chakra system was already familiar to Western audiences through practices like yoga, and it provided a framework for practitioners to better understand and work with energy imbalances.

Integration and development

Japanese origins of Reiki: The original Reiki practice, founded by Mikao Usui, does not mention the chakra system. The Japanese term "Reiki" means "universal life force energy" (Rei = universal, ki = life force energy).
Indian origins of chakras: The chakra system, meaning "wheel" in Sanskrit, is an ancient concept from Indian traditions like Ayurveda and Ta***ic Yoga, referring to seven major energy centers in the body.

Western adoption: After Usui's death, Reiki was brought to the West by Hawayo Takata. The system began to be blended with the chakra model as it gained popularity in the West.

Integration for practical application: Chakras were likely integrated because they provided a more widely understood framework for energy centers compared to the Japanese Daoist concept of dantien. This allowed Western practitioners to better explain and apply Reiki to the body's energy system.

How they work together in practice

Balancing energy: Reiki is used to channel healing energy to help unblock and balance the chakra system, which is believed to be an energy network within the subtle body.

Targeted healing: Practitioners may use their hands or symbols to channel energy to specific chakra points to help restore alignment and balance in the recipient's body, mind, and spirit.
