✨ Senior Spotlight ✨

Welcome to our Senior Spotlight series! Each week, we will shine a light on our amazing residents who bring so much joy and wisdom to our community. We can't wait to share their stories, experiences, and the unique contributions they make to our facility. This week, we’re excited to feature Barbara Hall. Barbara is truly a blessing here at Cedar View and loves to have a good laugh. Her tender heart and sweet nature make her the incredible woman she is today. More about her is in the description below!! Follow along for more stories like this one each week on Sundays.

Mrs. Barbara is one of our newest residents here. She moved here about five months ago and has fit in since day one. Her favorite color is blue; her favorite music is country and Christian. Her favorite movie is “Noah’s Arc.” Her favorite foods are Chicken Tenders from Rick’s BBQ, fried shrimp from Red Lobster, and Mama Jean’s. Her favorite drink is Diet Coke, and her favorite places are Walmart and Target. Barbara was an elementary school teacher for a short period in Tuscumbia, AL, and worked in an elementary school library for a couple of years before becoming a stay-at-home mom. She has three kids, two sons, and one daughter. She has five grandchildren and one great-grandchild who is one year old. Her favorite hobby is reading books and watching old westerns. Her favorite activities at Cedar View are Bingo, Sit and Fit, and Balloon Tennis.

Barbara’s fondest childhood memory was playing with her friends and neighbors in her neighborhood. Her favorite holiday is Christmas and New Year’s because she gets to spend time with her mom’s side of the family. Something interesting that Barbara says about herself is that when she was younger, she was quiet and shy, but the older she has gotten, she has grown out of her shell and loves to engage in conversation with people any chance she gets.

Finally, we asked Barbara if she had any advice for younger adults, and to that, she responded, “Maintain a close relationship with your family and God; that is the most important thing.”

✨ Senior Spotlight ✨

~ Welcome to our Senior Spotlight series! Each week, we will be shining a light on our amazing residents who bring so much joy and wisdom to our community. We can't wait to share their stories, experiences, and the unique contributions they make to our facility. This week, we’re excited to feature Robert (Bob) Walker, who is so kind and humble, and unknowingly spreads happiness around our facility. More about him in the description below!! Stay tuned for more about our residents and their interesting backstories!!~

Bob has been at Cedar View for about a year and a half. When questioned about his favorite things, Bob seemed to not have many favorites other than the color green, favorite food being steak, and favorite drink being unsweetened tea. He is such a classy and respectful man. Anyone who has ever met Bob knows he seems to be very reserved, but once you get him talking, he’ll talk forever! He is so kind and would give the shirt off his back for anyone here. He always lets everyone else speak and he goes with the flow; no complaints, no pushback, if it’s good with you it’s good with Bob.

Bob was an electronics technician for many years. He is such a smart man, but he won’t tell you that!! He never had a wife or kids, but he has forever impacted the lives of those who have met him throughout the years. We asked Bob about his fondest childhood memory and he responded, “When I got my first rifle when I was about 12 years old… I went hunting with it.” His favorite holiday is Christmas because it’s the longest holiday, he says. Something interesting about Bob is that he has lived all over the United States; Florida, New York, California, etc.

Finally, we asked Bob if he had any advice for younger generations growing up in today’s society, and he said, “Get a good education. Something you love, not just something about the money, and if you’re smart, you’ll make a lot of money doing something you love.” We are so thankful for Bob and appreciate all he has done in his life. We’d like to recognize him today as the ✨Senior Spotlight✨ of the week!! Thank you all for following along, and keep up with us to learn more each week about our residents! Prayers would be appreciated for Bob as he heals from a recent injury!!

✨Saturday, December 14th, 2024✨

Our residents had a day packed full of music, fun, and Christmas cheer. We had the Camp family at 2:00 for an amazing time, and hot cocoa and Christmas movies shortly after. We’d like to thank everyone who planned, carried out, and was invovled in our fun-filled day here at Cedar View. ❤️

Each week, we'll be highlighting one of our incredible employees who go above and beyond to make our assisted living facility a wonderful place to live and work. Stay tuned to learn more about the amazing team members who bring joy, care, and dedication to our community every day. This week, we’re excited to feature Kaylin Luedke. Kaylin, also known by her fellow staff members and residents as "KK," has been such an incredible part of our team here at Cedar View. Kaylin has such a kind and genuine soul, and anyone who knows her knows she is humble, kind, and generous, and an absolutely amazing person. There is no doubt that she loves and cares for everyone she interacts with. She is an absolutely beautiful person, inside and out, and we are so thankful to have her as a team member here. KK will be leaving us here soon to chase her dreams as a Cosmetologist. We love and and will continue to support her through her journey. But today, we would like to recognize KK for all she has done for us and wish her luck in the next chapter of her life. KK, we love you and appreciate you so much!!

✨Senior Spotlight✨
~ Welcome to our Senior Spotlight series! Each week, we will be shining a light on our amazing residents who bring so much joy and wisdom to our community. We can't wait to share their stories, experiences, and the unique contributions they make to our facility. This week, we're excited to feature Hazel Mays. She brings so much joy to our staff and residents and her sweet personality screams 'southern hospitality.' We love and appreciate her so much for all she does. More about her life in the description below!!

Hazel has been with us for a year now, and the joy and hospitality she has brought will leave a lasting impact on our residents, staff, and visitors. Her favorite color is blue; favorite song is "You Are My Sunshine;" favorite movie is "Gone With The Wind;" favorite food is beans; and her favorite drink is sweet tea; favorite vacation place is Quebec City, Canada.

Hazel had a career as a credit manager. She has 2 kids (both girls) and 7 grandkids and 10 great-grandkids. Her favorite hobby is sewing. We asked Hazel what her favorite activity here was, and she said the Sock Snowman activity we did a couple weeks ago. We asked Hazel what her fondest childhood memory was and to that she replied, "Once a year, my dad, uncle, and aunts would get together and every summer we would have a family reunion at the park. We would have a picnic and eat outside and I would play with all my cousins and enjoy each others company. We also asked Hazel what her favorite holiday and she said, "Thanksgiving because it is not as stressful as Christmas and you do not have to worry about the gifts. It was about being around your family and eating good food. It was also the first time I got to see my entire family since the summer."

Finally, we asked Hazel if she had any advice for the younger generations. And boy did she have a lot to say! Anyone who knows Hazel knows she loves to talk and to give advice. She is so sincere and genuine and she just honestly wants to give everyone the tips she never knew until she got older. But to sum up what she said, we focus on one particular statement; "To realize you are out here for a purpose and everyone has a purpose and a meaning in life. When you get older, you realize that you had/have a specific purpose in your life and you are here for a reason. Your purpose and impact on those around you will continue until you die. I don't think you only have one purpose. I think everyone has multiple different purposes and reasons why they are put here on this earth."

Also a special thanks to Lanie Waldrop and Ryleigh Weeks for interviewing Hazel and spending time learning about her very interesting life.

~ Welcome to our Senior Spotlight series! Each week, we will be shining a light on our amazing residents who bring so much joy and wisdom to our community. We can't wait to share their stories, experiences, and the unique contributions they make to our facility. This week, we’re excited to feature Pierrette Beaudry, who has given our place a little more ✨🌶️spice🌶️✨. More about her in the description below! Stay tuned for more inspiring stories!! ~

Pierrette has been living with us for about 4 months now. She is one of the goofiest and bubbliest people we know! She is so thankful to be here and she loves to help out with the chores. She is spontaneous, spunky, and outspoken, and we couldn’t love her any more for it!! She’s also had a very interesting life…more about her life below. ⬇️

Pierrette’s favorite color is yellow. Her favorite movie is Shirley Temple. Her favorite food is grilled chicken. Her favorite drink is lemonade or Diet Coke. And her favorite thing to do is go skiing in the mountains. Her favorite hobby is walking.

Pierrette has 8 kids: 7 girls and 1 boy. She is so proud of her kids and grandkids, even if it’s hard for her to keep up with them all!! Pierrette is French-Canadian. She grew up in Asbestos, Canada and her favorite worked in the Asbestos mines. After she had her 8 kids, she got an RN degree and learned to speak English and worked in America during WWII. Her nurturing nature can be seen in the way she treats her fellow residents and even our staff, making sure they have everything they need.

Riley Weeks and Lanie Waldrop (the UNA students who interviewed Pierrette) finally asked her if she had any advice to give to the younger generations. To that, she replied, “Study hard, and always be the best you can be at what you do.”
