What a delightful lunch we had today at SOB. 14 classmates got together to start talking about our 50th reunion this year. (That's about twice as many as showed up for our 40th class reunion!)
PLEASE INVITE YOUR CLASS OF '75 FRIENDS TO JOIN THIS GROUP! IT CAN BE A GREAT WAY TO COMMUNICATE BEFORE THE REUNION.
Here's what we're thinking:
• Hold our reunion during Kimball Days (August 4-9 – I'll verify this date before we lock anything in). Maybe Saturday afternoon, in-between the Kids' Zone at St. Anne's and the street dance in the evening. I'll make sure our reunion does not conflict with any Kimball Days activities. ;)
• I can arrange someone to give us a tour of the high school before we start our reunion. A lot has changed, including the Leo Wirth Gymnasium, a brand-new FACS (Home Ed) space, new secure offices, new library (and new library location), new cafetorium, a robotics room, the science classrooms finally got an update last summer (!), and there's no more Room 200.
• Rick Schiefelbein has invited us to have our reunion dinner at the Schiefelbein Sale Barn for a prime rib dinner catered by Keek's in Watkins. (yay!!) We may want to consider a vegetarian option as well. There was a suggestion of pot-luck desserts, or we could have dessert catered too – at 50 years, we're worth it! Besides the great food, we can stay and "chat" as long as we'd like!
• I gathered contact information from those who were there, and we'll want to get that info from everyone – especially those who may have dropped off the radar. (More on that another day.)
• We will commemorate those classmates who have passed, in some way at the reunion. We believe the count to be 12 from the Class of '75 who have died since graduation:
Joe Adolph
Steve Berscheid
Rick Gregory
Duane Kaskinen
Mary (Konz) Maida
Cynthia (Myllykangas) Arens
Don Nystrom
Terry Schmidt ??
Karen (Sheldon) Marquette
Theresa (Wagner) Schneider
Ray Webb
am I missing someone?
• We'd like to invite teachers and staff who are still around to join us. We just lost Larry Jensen and principal Lou Davis; but there are few left:
Bill Liedman
Kayo Aslagson
Audrey (Bruggers) Taatjes
Lorelle Jones
Patsy (Hall)
Pat Tekavec
Dan Arntsen
Jim Bruggers
Jan Leuer (maybe)
Lois Cobban (maybe)
Judy (Manderfeld) Seckinger (maybe)
