DC showed up—and we had a real conversation about skincare beyond the marketing.

One of the biggest patterns I see in my Keep or Cut series (I modeled this after a fantasy football lineup of skincare products where we decide what to keep, cut, or bench:) is that most people overload the correct step.

That’s where all the promises live:

✨ firming
✨ lifting
✨ glowing
✨ tightening
✨ transforming

And interestingly…it’s also where the most products get benched.

Why? Because many of these purchases happen during vulnerable moments—before a wedding, after seeing a photo you didn’t like, while comparing yourself online, or simply hoping quick change.

And skincare marketing knows exactly how to meet people in those moments.

The problem is many of these products make big promises with very little meaningful delivery.

When we organize routines into my framework—cleanse, correct, protect—people quickly realize they’re often buying multiple versions of products promising the same thing in slightly different packaging plus very real disappointment.

And we talked about something people don’t hear enough:

Your skin is an organ—not a hobby.

It protects you.
Helps regulate temperature.
Supports vitamin D production.
And so much more.

It deserves better than being treated like a canvas for endless product experimentation.

More products ≠ better skin.

Thank you DC for such a thoughtful conversation and incredible launch event!

A clip from this week’s No-Nonsense Skincare book launch where I shared the simple framework behind healthier skin: Cleanse. Correct. Protect.

Skincare doesn’t need to be complicated—focus on what works, skip the excess, and build a routine grounded in evidence.

Special thank you to .md for joining me for such a thoughtful conversation and helping make the event so much fun!

Hope to see you at my next event in Washington DC this weekend!

You’ve been trained to ask the wrong question.
Not: “What does my skin need?”
But: “What should I buy next?”
After 20+ years as a dermatologist, I can tell you this:
The problem isn’t that you don’t have enough skincare…
It’s that you have too much.
More products ≠ better skin.
At some point, it’s just noise.
This is exactly why I wrote No-Nonsense Skincare—
not to sell you more…
but to help you finally understand what actually matters.

This is what 25 years looks like- balancing careers, chaos, raising three wonderful kids turned amazing adults, and still us. Now empty nesters at the Grand Hotel Tremezzo on Lake Como, where Greta Garbo once called it “that happy, sunny place.” When I first read her quote, I was struck by its simplicity. But after our time here, I couldn’t agree more. Grateful for the journey and what’s still to come. Happy 25th to ❤️

So proud to celebrate my Drexel College of Medicine research fellows, Taylor Merkle and Caitlyn Curley , on each earning Honorable Mentions at the 2026 Annual Johnson Beerman & Stelwagon Competition with the Philadelphia Dermatological Society (Philadelphia Dermatological Society ) held at the beautiful, historic College of Physicians of Philadelphia.

These weren’t just projects. These were practice-changing insights.

Taylor’s work (TriNetX, large cohort) demonstrated an association between nasal and inhaled corticosteroids and pediatric perioral dermatitis. This is a finding with direct implications for how we counsel families and identify potential triggers in clinical practice.

Caitlyn’s research showed that manufacturer UV claims for window tint films may not reflect clinically relevant UV transmittance, highlighting an important gap for patients relying on tinting to manage photosensitive conditions.

Both studies underscore how much there is still to question and improve in everyday dermatologic care and counseling.

Incredibly proud of the work, curiosity, and dedication these two brought all year. This is how medicine moves forward.

We just debunked a long-standing skincare myth — and took 1st place at Reading Hospital Research Day doing it.

You’ve probably heard this (even from trusted sources):

“If you can see light through your clothing, UV rays can get through too.”

Our data says otherwise.

In this study, we directly tested that assumption — measuring visible light alongside UV-A, UV-B, and UPF across multiple fabrics and colors.

Here’s what we found:

Visible light transmission did NOT predict UV protection

White fabrics transmitted significantly more visible light, but this did not reliably reflect their UV blocking ability

Some fabrics that appeared “see-through” still had strong UV protection — and vice versa

In other words:
What your eye sees does not equal what your skin experiences

This matters because this “hold it up to the light” method is still widely used in patient education and cited by major health organizations.

Congratulations to my outstanding research fellows Caitlyn Curley and Taylor Merkle and rising fourth year medical student grace axelson — your work is helping reshape how we educate patients about sun protection with real data.

This is why evidence matters.

Thank you to everyone who joined me for such an energizing, inspiring evening celebrating No-Nonsense Skincare: An Expert Guide to Healthier Skin — now a #1 Top New Release in Dermatology on Amazon.

I had the pleasure of being in conversation with Dr. Rina Weimann, where we broke down what skincare should actually look like: clear, simple, and grounded in science — not hype.

One of my favorite moments? The LIVE “Keep or Cut” segment!!
Sorting through real routines, product by product, and showing how to apply my Cleanse • Correct • Protect framework in real time.

Because the goal isn’t more products — it’s better understanding.

Seeing your reactions, your “aha” moments, and your excitement to rethink your routines is exactly why I wrote this book. Skincare should feel empowering at every age and stage — not overwhelming.

And we’re just getting started…

Still taking it all in from my first book launch event at the Women’s Center in King of Prussia ✨

To celebrate the release of No-Nonsense Skincare—now a #1 New Release on Amazon in Dermatology—surrounded by such an incredible community was truly special.

So grateful to Dr. Rina Weimann (Rina Weimann (Allawh), MD FAAD ) for leading such a thoughtful conversation, and for the chance to share one of my favorite ways to approach skincare: “keep or cut,” using a simple cleanse, correct, protect framework to bring clarity (and avoid redundancy).

Thank you to my amazing team—Sydney (Sydney Hannings ) and Esha (esha )—for making this event possible, and to everyone who helped behind the scenes! ❤️

And thank you to Allison Moore from CeraVe and La Roche-Posay for helping make the evening extra special⭐️

This is just the beginning 💫
