DC showed up—and we had a real conversation about skincare beyond the marketing.
One of the biggest patterns I see in my Keep or Cut series (I modeled this after a fantasy football lineup of skincare products where we decide what to keep, cut, or bench:) is that most people overload the correct step.
That’s where all the promises live:
✨ firming
✨ lifting
✨ glowing
✨ tightening
✨ transforming
And interestingly…it’s also where the most products get benched.
Why? Because many of these purchases happen during vulnerable moments—before a wedding, after seeing a photo you didn’t like, while comparing yourself online, or simply hoping quick change.
And skincare marketing knows exactly how to meet people in those moments.
The problem is many of these products make big promises with very little meaningful delivery.
When we organize routines into my framework—cleanse, correct, protect—people quickly realize they’re often buying multiple versions of products promising the same thing in slightly different packaging plus very real disappointment.
And we talked about something people don’t hear enough:
Your skin is an organ—not a hobby.
It protects you.
Helps regulate temperature.
Supports vitamin D production.
And so much more.
It deserves better than being treated like a canvas for endless product experimentation.
More products ≠ better skin.
Thank you DC for such a thoughtful conversation and incredible launch event!
