Conrad Joseph Landry, Jr., known affectionately to all as Conrad, passed away peacefully on September 18, 2025, in King, North Carolina, at the age of 74. Born on November 2, 1950, in Waterbury, Connecticut, Conrad was a man of unwavering strength, kindness, and an ever-present sense of humor that endeared him to everyone he met.
Conrad's early life in Waterbury laid a strong foundation for his character, instilling in him the values of hard work and dedication. He carried these values throughout his life, from his honorable service in the United States Navy during the Vietnam War to his years as a skilled steelworker. Conrad's hands helped shape the skyline of New York City, as he was among the proud workers who constructed the iconic Twin Towers. His contributions to these monumental projects reflected his larger-than-life presence and his commitment to excellence.
After retiring from his career in construction, Conrad remained active in his community, touching lives with his generosity and his knack for making people laugh. His quick wit and infectious smile were sources of joy and comfort to his friends and family, who cherished every moment spent in his company.
Conrad's memory will be lovingly cherished by his daughter Erica, He also leaves behind his twin brother, Armand Landry and wife Mary Ann, with whom he shared a special bond that only twins can understand; his sister, Elaine Bernier and her husband David; and his sister, Bertha "Beth" Landry. His nieces and nephews, Dannette, Donna, Deanna, Jason, Jeffrey, Timothy, Robert, and Sean, will miss their uncle's larger-than-life personality and the lessons he taught them both in words and through his actions. Conrad's dear friend, Officer Chase, along with many other friends and colleagues, will also feel the absence of his spirited conversation and heartfelt advice.
Conrad's life was a testament to the power of kindness and generosity. He was a beacon of light for those who had the pleasure of knowing him and a source of laughter and love that will be deeply missed. His legacy will not be forgotten, as the stories of his humor, his good deeds, and the lives he touched will continue to be shared by all who loved him.
As we bid farewell to Conrad Joseph Landry, Jr., we reflect on a life well-lived, a journey marked by courage, joy, and an abundance of kindness. His spirit will forever be a part of the lives he has touched, and his memory will live on as a reminder of the difference one person can make in the world.
A memorial service with military honors will be held at 6:30 pm on Tuesday, October 7, 2025, at Slate Funeral Home in King, NC Inurnment will take place at a later date in The All-Saints Cemetery in Waterbury, CT beside his mother.
