Edith Maebell Watkins Shull, 93, of Tobaccoville, NC, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her beloved family, on Wednesday, February 26, 2026.

Ms. Shull was born in Davidson County, NC, on February 29, 1932, to the late Dewey S. and Burley Brogden Watkins. She was a dedicated member of Hope Community Church in Winston-Salem, embodying faith and community spirit. Edith cherished her roles as mother and grandmother, viewing her family as the greatest blessing of her life. She found joy in crocheting, embroidery, and sewing, skillfully creating a beautiful wedding dress for her daughter and lovingly making all of the bridesmaids' dresses.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her loving husband of 32 years, Arlis Shull; her daughter, Anita Burley; two sisters, Pansey Watkins and Christine Olds; and a son-in-law, Ed Carver.

Left to cherish her memory are her children: Glenda Carver, Emery “Buddy” James, and Robert “Robby” James (Belinda), her grandchildren: Sherry Melvin (DG), David Watkins (Sarah), Tamara Burley, Missty Hollaman (Chris), Jarred James, Michael James (Corteney), and Jonathan James (Sydney), two brothers: Curtis Watkins and Sam Watkins (LaDonn), 9 great-grandchildren and several beloved nieces and nephews.

The family sincerely thanks Trellis Supportive Care, Hope Community Church pastors and link leaders for their care and support during this time, as well as all friends and family, for their loving calls, texts, and letters that have meant so much to them.

A Celebration of Life will be held at Hope Community Church at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, March 3, 2026, with Bishop Paul Francis Lanier officiating. Visitors may greet the family following the service.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Trellis Supportive Care, 101 Hospice Ln. Winston Salem, NC 27103, or to Hope Community Church, 4660 Brownsboro Rd. Winston Salem, NC 27106.

Bruce Slate Robertson, 81, of King, NC, passed away on Wednesday, February 18, 2026, at Novant Health Forsyth Medical Center, surrounded by his beloved family.

Mr. Robertson was born in Stokes County, NC, on May 13, 1944, to the late Joseph Fountain and Moneda Slate Robertson. He retired from RJ Reynolds and from to***co farming He was a lifelong member of Capella Church of Christ.

Bruce loved his family, especially his devoted and caring wife of 58 years, Linda Ayers Robertson, his sons, Greg J. Robertson (Wendy), and Steven E. Robertson (April), his grandchildren: Morgan Bowen (Mitchell), Kelan Robertson (fiancé Madison Collins), Colby Robertson (Allissa), and Abby Robertson, his great-grandchildren: Finnley and Briggs Bowen, two brothers: Robert “Buster” Robertson and Frank Robertson (Nancy); along with his special dog, Macie and several nieces, nephews and other family. Bruce was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Jimmy and Larry Robertson.

Mr. Robertson’s presence in the community was as steady as the sun rising each day. Whether he was leisurely riding his Kubota UTV, tending to his garden with care, or selling produce at the Winston-Salem Fairgrounds, then turning that business over to Steven, he poured his heart into every activity. His unwavering pride and integrity reflected a life committed to authenticity and purpose, inspiring those lucky enough to know him.

The family of Mr. Robertson would like to thank the staff of Forsyth Medical Center for the love, compassion, and care during their time of need.

A private service will be held to honor Mr. Robertson. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Capella Church of Christ Cemetery Fund: 1187 Flat Shoals Rd. King, NC 27021.

Daniel Fredrick Thomas, 71, of King, NC, passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, February 10, 2026, at his home.

Mr. Thomas was born on September 20, 1954, to the late Oscar Fred and Kathleen Tatum Thomas. He worked at RJ Reynolds for his entire life, from high school graduation until retirement. He loved riding his Harley Screaming Eagle and found peace in his “wind therapy.” He enjoyed shooting pool, relaxing (in his special way), and watching old westerns. He was an avid scuba diver for many years and a world traveler, visiting many exotic ports. He was lovingly known as Papa T or Grandpa Thomas.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a grandson, Daniel Gordan Hall, and a sister, Olivia Deann Thomas.

Left to cherish his memory are his children: Melinda Hall, Matthew Thomas, and Melissa Gephardt (Gus), his grandchildren: Dylan Hall, Melina Hall, Malaya Hall, Ethan Gephardt, Trey Gephardt, and Rachel Gephardt, his brother, Brian Thomas, s close friend, Roy Myers, nieces, Lakota and Cheyene, and his girlfriend, Gail Tuttle.

The family will receive friends and loved ones from 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, February 21, 2026, at Slate Funeral Home. A Celebration of Life will begin at 2:00 p.m.
