My techniques when giving massage are based on a firm knowledge of anatomy (the study of the body's structure) and kinesiology (the science of movement). As each of us has a different personal history, every person receives a custom massage tailored to their specific needs on the day of the appointment. I have found that I receive the best bodywork when I am interacting with the therapist, and tak

This year I celebrated SamDay on Monday the 8th. It's hard to believe it's been 10 years she's been gone. I've extended SamDay into SamWeek this year. All money that I receive on SamDay goes to Maine Mountain Children's House, but I also am letting the rest of my clients know that this week I'll willingly accept extra $ and roll it into my donation :)
You might not know that this only 50% of this money turns into whatever the school needs it for. The other 50% turns into lessons in math, philanthropy, and civics. The children figure out how much money is 50% of the total, and that amount is then donated to another organization. Last year I was there when they picked - there were three choices of organizations to give back to. There was a global organization (the Nature Conservancy), a national organization (I forget...I think it had to do with cows or food supply or something...), and a local organization (the Webster Library). And there was a tie break! The national organization got removed, and there was a run-off vote! The library won by a close margin.

This is what's been going on in my other world! I submitted a design proposal back in March, and was one of 9 designers chosen to participate in the MJSA (national jewelry industry organization) 2023 Design Challenge. These earrings can convert to small earrings and two pendants! All the gems are fair trade and were donated by Columbia Gem House, Inc., along with the silver. All the design work, the 20 hours of labor to make these, and the 18k gold accents were donated by me (aka Carrabassett Valley Jewelry).
During the month of October these pieces are part of a fundraiser to raise money for the Centro de Rescate Rehabilitación e Investigación de Fauna Silvestre A.C. which was recommended by the pearl farm which produces the Cortez mabe pearls that are in the center of the design. Each of the 9 pieces have 100 tickets available at $25 each, so you could buy tickets to win my piece, or any of the others...until they are sold out. There is no limit on number of tickets you buy unless they are gone!

I've periodically posted "Dear Clients" notes on my website that have also been sent out in a mass email. This last one is more like a rambling blog entry, with some updated information on my new KN95 mask policy, and a bit of a run-on paragraph about my cleaning protocols. Have a read if you're interested! https://equinoxbodywork.com/business-time-covid/

It is with great sadness that I share this news. I only knew Lynn Reid LMT, CPP. Holistic Bodywork for a short time, but her spirit and love of life made an impact on me, and I'm sure her clients as well. She was just starting to grow her business here in town, and her passing is a great loss to our community. Fly easy my friend!

For those of you who look forward to my calendar photos. This year is wave photography by Clark Little Photography from Hawaii. I am sad to have missed having May’s photo to look at for a month...I was really looking forward to that one!

Dear Clients,
I was hoping to start with some re-booking by now, but as you may have seen or heard, massage is listed as being able to reopen during Phase 3 of the governor’s plan for re-opening Maine. The guesstimate for when that will happen is currently July/August, although I’m maintaining my optimism that maybe we will be able to keep the Covid enough at bay for an earlier reopening. But at this point, I’m having to cancel all future bookings at this time. HOWEVER, it does appear that massage can be allowed with a Doctor’s orders note. If you want to pursue that with your doctor, please let me know! I have several clients who are looking into that option, so I am looking into what steps to take in order to have my office prepared for reopening. Many of you have asked, and I am still holding up well – I’m very grateful to live somewhere I have ample outdoor activities! Thanks for asking 🙂

I’m also grateful to be an introvert who is content not socializing for long periods of time. And to have my jewelry business at home to let me be creative and have a little income. I do know there are others who desperately need that social contact, and I hope we can have that opportunity back in the safe-zone sooner than later – And when that happens, even this introvert will be glad to be social again! You may want to know what my plans are for when I can fully reopen. I will say the thing I am most concerned about is my ability to reopen with a full schedule, so the one mostly concrete decision I’ve made is that I’ll be working fewer hours per day, but more days per week to spread out the physical load for me. This will also let me schedule sessions with plenty of time in between for cleaning. There will likely be some new self-assessment intake questions before you arrive, having to do with travel, or contact with people from Covid hot-spots. I’m not sure if at that point I’ll have to take everyone’s temperature or not, or if I’ll have to be donning PPE (including gloves/mask) during our session, but that seems very likely. I’m sure that will all become more clear in the coming weeks and months.

If you have expectations on how I can make my office procedures safe for you to return comfortably, please don’t hesitate to reach out! This is all new, and we’re in it together. Once I have a definite date for reopening, I’ll be in touch to schedule appointments. If you want to reach out about scheduling, that is also fine :)Know that I am wishing you well, thinking of each of you, and hoping you’re finding time to get outdoors as the earth awakens. Let’s all continue to do our part to keep safe so that we can see each other soon!

Cheers,
Liz
