Our week has been spud-tacular! 🥔❤️

​Our Valentine’s crafts took a starchy turn this week! We traded in the traditional brushes for some potato stamps to work on those big OT goals.

​While the kids were busy making heart-stamped masterpieces, we were focusing on:

​Sensory Integration: Exploring the cold, wet, and slightly bumpy texture of raw potatoes mixed with the squish of paint. 🎨
​Grip Strength & Grading of Force: Learning just how hard to press to get a clear heart shape without "smushing" the paint!
​Motor Planning: Coordinating that "reach, dip, and stamp" sequence.
​Visual Motor: Aiming for the paper and spacing out those hearts just right.
​It’s messy, it’s tactile, and it’s a whole lot of fun.

Engaging children in creating Christmas-themed food activities—such as assembling festive snacks, decorating holiday treats, or preparing simple edible crafts—provides a highly motivating context for developing core occupational therapy skills. These activities naturally integrate sensory exploration, fine-motor development, executive functioning, and social participation while promoting independence in everyday routines.
