Update #2- Bus Accident on 4/1/25:

As we collect more information, KUSD can confirm that the majority of students involved in yesterday's bus accident in Marana, Arizona, have been discharged from the hospital and are now able to go home. Our district is coordinating with staff and families to assist any students who may need transportation back to Kingman. However, we currently have two students and two staff members who remain hospitalized and will continue their treatment in medical facilities in Tucson. Our thoughts remain with them and their families during this time.

We would like to express our heartfelt appreciation to the Tucson and Marana hospitals, first aid responders, and their community for their exceptional support and assistance provided to our students and staff. Your help truly means the world to us!

We are so incredibly thankful for our compassionate community that has been offering support and assistance during this time. KUSD would like to assemble care baskets for the students, staff, and their families who were involved in the accident. If our community is willing to help, we would be thankful for contributions of the following items for the families:

azfamily 3TV CBS 5 ~ Staff and student sustain injuries but no fatal or life threatening injuries reported.

MARANA, AZ (AZFamily) โ€” Three high schoolers and one adult were seriously hurt, and an SUV driver was arrested after a school bus crash just north of Tucson early Tuesday afternoon.

According to the Department of Public Safety, the school bus was on its way from Kingman, heading east toward Tucson on Interstate 10 when the bus and the SUV collided close to Tangerine Road in the town of Marana just after 1:30 p.m. The crash caused the bus to hit the median barrier cable and roll on its side.

Approximately 40 people were on the bus at the time of the crash, including four adults (the bus driver and three chaperones). While four were seriously hurt, troopers said their injuries werenโ€™t life-threatening.

All of those on board were taken to the hospital to be checked out for possible injuries and Marana Unified School District provided two buses to help drive those victims to Tucson-area hospitals.

DPS officials say the driver of an SUV was arrested, but authorities are not disclosing what charges he was arrested for.

The Kingman Unified School District #20 confirmed that their bus was involved in the crash, and the students were from Kingman and Lee Williams high schools in northwestern Arizona.

KUSD Families and Community,

We want to inform our families that a bus carrying Kingman Unified School District #20 FBLA students and three chaperones was involved in an accident on I-10 near Tucson. Thankfully, there are no fatalities, but several students and a staff member have been transported for medical evaluation.

Kingman High School and Lee Williams High School administration are actively reaching out to the families of those

involved. Please know that we are gathering information and will provide updates as soon as possible.

Our thoughts are with everyone affected, and we appreciate your patience and support during this time.
