Let’s clear something up real quick…
Therapists are not your emotional punching bags.
Not your friends.
Not people you get to disrespect because you’re “having a hard time.”
Yes—therapy is a safe space.
No—it is NOT a space without boundaries.
If you consistently:
🚩 ignore boundaries
🚩 become hostile or inappropriate
🚩 refuse to engage in the actual work
Then yes… a therapist can discharge you.
And no—that’s not them “giving up on you.”
That’s them upholding ethics, protecting their well-being, and maintaining the integrity of the work.
Accountability doesn’t stop at the therapy door.
Growth requires effort. Respect. Responsibility.
You can’t demand healing while disrespecting the person trying to help you get there.
Respect your therapist. Or be prepared to find a new one.
