Round ligament pain - let’s talk about it! Many pregnant women seek prenatal chiropractic specifically for this sharp, stabbing lower abdominal/groin pain because pelvic and spinal misalignments can add extra tension to the already-stretching round ligaments.
As your uterus grows, the round ligaments stretch significantly. If your pelvis or lower spine is even slightly misaligned (common due to pregnancy posture changes, weight shift, and relaxin hormone loosening joints), it can create uneven pull or additional strain on these ligaments. This often makes the pain more frequent or intense with movement.
At Align Chiropractic we aim to:
- Restore proper pelvic alignment and balance the sacroiliac (SI) joints
- Reduce compensatory tension in the muscles and fascia surrounding the round ligaments
- Improve overall biomechanics so the ligaments don’t have to overwork against a tilted or twisted pelvis
As the only Webster-certified chiropractors in Cleveland County, we use pregnancy-specific, gentle techniques like the side lying release, relaxing the soft tissue and facilitating myofascial release around the hips, and lower back.
