It's National Dog Day!

John Sloane says "As a lifelong dog lover, I am delighted to celebrate any day devoted to them. This special day honors all dogs everywhere and the many contributions they make to our lives as beloved family pets or working dogs in service/therapy and military/law enforcement, etc. Each one is amazing! All they ask for is love, attention, and food (and maybe some pizza crust).

Today, I share my peaceful painting Takin' It Easy, honoring my friend's remarkable dog Ruthie. Many of my paintings include a dog. Dogs are simply a part of my life. Many wonderful dogs are now at your local shelter, waiting patiently for a loving home ... perhaps yours. Please consider it. If you can't adopt or foster, there are still many ways to help, perhaps as a shelter volunteer or donor. If you already have a dog, please indulge him/her today with an extra walk or hug, a fun new toy, or just lots of attention."

We have a new way of showing appreciation for all the kindness that is shown in our building. I have started a Kindness Awards Certificate. The nominees are chosen by other residents, employees, or family members. Anyone who is caught being kind or helpful can be nominated. Here are the first 5 that were caught. ❤️

A resident asked if we had ever eaten fried apple pies made from bread. So, we decided to try it! As you can see in the pictures, they were "Finger Lickin' Good."
