Meet Shayla Crawford, RN. She has been on our team for 2 years! Shayla's job includes forming trusting relationships with patients and their families and providing them with the best care during a difficult time. Her secret talent is Softball. One of Shayla's biggest inspirations within the company is seeing everyone willing to jump in and help at any time to make sure ALL patients are taken care of. Shayla has grown professionally with this company, becoming more empathetic and expanding her knowledge of nursing and problem-solving.

Meet Linda Byrd, a CNA who has been on the team since 2021! Linda states that Mrs. Christy Wyche is one of her biggest inspirations! "It's such a privilege to help families and educate them. Occasionally, we get to laugh together. Hospice is not another job for me. It's a calling. It's a ministry that I love dearly. I'm glad that I am a part of it." Something that most people do not know about Linda is that she was raised by her grandmother, and she is a very good cook!

Meet our Week Day On-Call Nurse, Amanda Calhoun. She has been with us for 5 years! Amanda serves our patients and families after hours, meeting their needs outside regular business hours. Amanda's secret talent is that she can cook almost anything from scratch. Her biggest inspirations within the company are the nurses she works with, who put everything aside to ensure our families are well cared for and have support during some of the hardest days of their lives. Amanda states she has grown professionally while on our team because being a hospice nurse is not only about patient care but also about family care. "Death can be a scary time for patients and their families, but learning true empathy and understanding the challenges in home care now helps drive my desire to be a better advocate for the needs of each patient. As I have grown in hospice, I have learned to prepare care plans that give the greatest comfort possible to each family in what can be some of their darkest hours." Most people do not know that Amanda's greatest reward on any given day is putting a smile on someone's face. She takes pride in making people laugh or smile on some of the hardest days of their lives, whether it's the dying patient and their family or a co-worker having a bad day. Selflessness comes naturally for her in hospice care.

Mr. Mark Morgan began working with Gentiva in April 2018! Mark provides spiritual, emotional, and grief support to patients who are battling terminal illnesses, along with providing the same support to the family during the patient’s journey and then afterward. His secret talent is he likes to bake! One of Mark’s inspirations is D Simerly, who inspires him daily to see the better in people and life. Mark has helped train many chaplains throughout our region and continues to do so when needed. An interesting fact about Mark is he loves Star Wars!

Mrs. Donna Weston has been with us for 5 years! She assists with patients' personal care needs and is a shining light in their day. One of Donna's secret talents is journaling. One of her biggest inspirations in this company was Becky, a former boss. Donna states that Becky "Put all of her knowledge, care, and compassion into me and showed me what it was like to be a top-tier hospice employee." She also states she has "Grown professionally with Gentiva because we are family and always put our best foot forward for each other and our patients. Having a great work family behind you helps you grow into a better person".
