Established in 1989, we have been the retirement living choice for Tri-Cities seniors for 35 years. A couple of weeks ago, our very own Valerie Joh shared the fascinating story behind the beloved Kingsport Carousel with fellow residents here at Asbury Place Kingsport. After learning the history of this special community treasure, residents decided they wanted to experience it for themselves!

With warm sunshine and beautiful weather on our side, we planned a fun outing yesterday. Our group enjoyed lunch together at Beef ‘O’ Brady’s before heading over to the carousel for rides and plenty of smiles.

It was a wonderful afternoon filled with laughter, sweet memories, and a little bit of childlike joy. Sometimes the best days are the ones spent learning, exploring, and enjoying our community together. 🎠☀️

Our February Eastman Retirees Meeting last Thursday was another wonderful afternoon of connection and camaraderie! 💙

Residents and guests gathered at our clubhouse to share stories and sweet memories over cookies and coffee. The room was filled with laughter as friends reminisced about their Eastman days and the moments that shaped our community.

A special thank you to our Activities Director, Amanda, for bringing the fun with an Eastman-themed Jeopardy game! 🧠✨ It sparked friendly competition and plenty of smiles all around.

It was a beautiful day for an outing, and our residents had a wonderful time enjoying lunch together! ☀️🍝

Yesterday, we took the Asbury bus to Giuseppe’s Italian Restaurant after several residents requested a trip—and it did not disappoint. Smiles, great conversation, and delicious food made for a perfect afternoon.

Some of the signature dishes our residents especially enjoyed were:

🍽️ Seafood Cannelloni

💪🌈 Movement for Every Ability at Baysmont House 🌈💪

This morning’s exercise session is a great example of how we tailor activities to meet our residents exactly where they are. Not every resident has the strength or mobility to use traditional weights—and that’s perfectly okay.

By using pool noodles and balloons, we’re still able to:
🎈 Encourage gentle movement
🎈 Improve coordination and range of motion
🎈 Support strength and flexibility in a safe, fun way
🎈 Keep residents engaged, smiling, and successful

These adaptive activities are especially beneficial for residents who need a lighter, low-impact option, while still promoting overall wellness and independence. Every level of care deserves meaningful movement—and we’re proud to make that happen every day. 💙

Because here, exercise isn’t one-size-fits-all—it’s resident-centered.

Today we had the honor of hearing a truly special story from resident Valerie Joh, who shared the vision her late husband had to bring a carousel to Kingsport. She fondly joked that she told him they’d have a carousel “when pigs fly” — and yet, through passion, persistence, and heart, that dream became a reality. 🎠

Valerie walked us through the incredible journey of how this hand-crafted carousel came to life, now proudly celebrating 10 years as a beloved Kingsport landmark: the Kingsport Carousel.

We are deeply grateful to have residents who have helped shape the rich history of our community. To honor this legacy, we dedicated a framed professional print of the carousel to display at Asbury, joining our collection of historic Kingsport landmarks for residents and guests to enjoy for years to come.

What a meaningful reminder that dreams — even the ones that seem impossible — can truly take flight. 🐷🪽

💜💚💛 Laissez les bons temps rouler at Asbury Place! 💜💚💛

Our annual Mardi Gras celebration was filled with energy, flavor, and connection. A live jazz band set the tone for the evening as residents and guests danced, sang along, and enjoyed visiting with one another.

Our talented dining team prepared every detail of the experience—from passed appetizers like oysters and fried alligator to a full Cajun dinner featuring gumbo, dirty rice, and seafood étouffée, followed by king cake and beignets to end the night on a sweet note.

With masks, beads, balloons, and festive décor all around, it was truly a night to remember at Asbury Place! 🎭🎷✨

Cupid made a stop at Asbury Place today! 💘🥂

Our Speed Connections event was filled with laughter, conversation, and a little sparkle — complete with champagne, chocolate-covered strawberries, and beautiful décor. Residents enjoyed meeting someone new, sharing stories, and simply having fun together in a relaxed, festive setting.

🏈🎉 Super Bowl Sunday at Asbury Place = a WIN! 🎉🏈

What a night!!! Our community came alive as residents gathered all across campus to enjoy the big game together. From kickoff to the final whistle, the excitement (and the snacks!) did not disappoint.

Our amazing dining team truly outdid themselves with a giant spread of game-day favorites — we’re talking everything from savory sausage balls to crispy chicken wings, nachos, and even ice-cold beer to make it feel like a true Super Bowl celebration. 🍗🧀🍺

We transformed our common areas into the ultimate watch party zones, utilizing multiple spaces and big flat screens so everyone had a great seat, a great view, and even better company. Laughter, friendly banter, and team spirit filled the room — it was such a joy to see residents connecting, cheering, and sharing the fun together.

At Asbury Place, it’s not just about watching the big moments — it’s about experiencing them together. ❤️

Great food, great friends, and a great game = a perfect night!
