Improving Effectiveness of Visual Inspection
Abstract: This presentation will review the visual inspection process and apply good quality engineering practice to the process elements that lead to errors, recognizing and accounting for the relevant human factors.
Speaker Bio: Ted Schorn is a senior member of ASQ and has over 40 years of quality management experience having worked in medical, aerospace, and automotive quality. Ted currently serves as Vice President responsible for quality and product development for Enkei America, Inc. Ted is the principal of Schorn Consulting, LLC, and has written three texts, Improving the Effectiveness of Visual Inspection, Understanding the Wheel Fastening System on Trailers, and his newest book released in 2023, Process Control for Engineers.
Abstract: How to Achieve ASQ Recertification and Review of Recent Changes in the 2024 Recertification Handbook
After initial certification, one must carry out specific professional development requirements to recertify every three years and provide documentation in support. The recent changes for 2024 will be reviewed and this session will focus on a few examples of paths one may choose to achieve re-certification in the future.

Speaker Bio: Jill O’Dell is a seasoned quality systems professional with over 22 years of experience in the pharmaceutical and biotech industry. She has held various leadership, guidance, and oversight roles in quality management for multiple organizations. She is proficient in managing quality systems within the biotech industry and is an ASQ Certified Quality Auditor (CQA) and an active ASQ member since 2015. She currently serves as the 2024 Chair of the Board of ASQ Section 1106, after fulfilling different board member roles in the section over the past several years.
