Genevieve "Genny" Delavan, 101, formerly of Rosendale, passed away on Friday, February 20, 2026 at Ten Broeck Commons in Lake Katrine, NY. She was born on August 17, 1924 in Kingston, NY, the daughter of the late Maude (White) Whittaker. Genny married Warren "Jack" Delavan on December 25, 1943. Jack passed away in June 1997.

A lifelong area resident, Genny spent her working years in the garment industry in Kingston. She was employed at various clothing factories and was a proud member of the International Ladies Garment Workers Union. Upon retirement, Genny and Jack took a 2 month long road trip up to Alaska, a highlight of their retirement that Genny reminisced about for many years after. She has also been a member of the Rosendale Senior Citizens and loved going on bus trips and out to lunch.

In later years, Genny enjoyed many holiday and birthday celebrations with her nephew Ross and his family. She was proud of living independently in her own apartment in her Senior Complex where she made many friends over the years. She had a personal goal of living to be 100 which, with the blessing of good health, she attained. She also freely and frequently gave dietary advice to anyone who asked about her secret to longevity (NO flour or sugar!).

Genny loved her family and will be greatly missed, especially by her great great nephews Adrien and Julian, who she adored. Genny is survived by her nephew Rawlson (Ross) Delavan Jr.(Cindy) and his family, several other nieces, nephews and their families. Genny is preceded in death by her sisters, Frances Jansen, Edna Bonesteel and Dorothy Decker.

The family would like to thank the staff on the Catskill Unit at Ten Broeck Commons for their compassionate\care to Genny in her final months.

Per Genny's wishes , there will be no calling hours. Services are private and at the convenience of the family.
