For 20 years, patients have had a different option for treating complex brain conditions — one that’s helped change what’s possible.

At Penn State Health Milton S. Hershey Medical Center, Gamma Knife radiosurgery has provided a precise, noninvasive alternative to traditional brain surgery.

Using a single, highly targeted dose of radiation, Gamma Knife can treat tumors, Parkinson’s disease, vascular malformations and epilepsy-related lesions — while helping reduce side effects by protecting healthy brain tissue.

Twenty years of innovation. Countless lives impacted. 💙

At 17, Keira Woods had to make a decision most people don’t face until much later — whether to preserve her chance to have children someday.

After a cancer diagnosis and before starting intensive treatment, she chose to freeze her eggs — giving herself the flexibility to decide about parenthood on her own terms.

During National Infertility Awareness Week, we’re highlighting the importance of fertility preservation and the role it can play for patients facing cancer and other conditions.

Future nurses, we loved meeting you! 💙⚾

Penn State Health connected with student nurses at a recent Harrisburg Senators game, sharing information about Graduate Nurse and Nurse Extern opportunities across our hospitals.

Nurse leaders and ambassadors were there to talk with students about their units, answer questions and highlight what makes Penn State Health a great place to start a nursing career.

From networking to building connections with peers from colleges and universities across the region, it was a great night at the ballpark supporting the next generation of nurses.

A routine dental visit.
A life-changing diagnosis.

During Head and Neck Cancer Awareness Month, Wendy Jackson’s story is a powerful reminder that early signs can be easy to miss.

At Penn State Health, her care team focused on treating her cancer while protecting what mattered most — her voice, her smile and her quality of life.

Today, she’s cancer-free and living life fully. 💙

🐾 Meet Ursa and Yona 💙

Two new facility dogs are bringing comfort and support to patients at Penn State Health Milton S. Hershey Medical Center.

Ursa works alongside Child Life specialists at Penn State Health Golisano Children's Hospital, helping pediatric patients navigate recovery with encouragement and care. Her sister, Yona, supports adult patients in critical care — becoming the first facility dog in the program to serve in this area.

Together, they’re helping patients, families and care teams find moments of calm, connection and even a little joy.
