Starting July 22, weather permitting, the lower loop of Medical Center Drive, closest to the Pine Barn Inn, will be closed to public traffic. Signs will direct drivers through the detour.

Meet Samantha Davenport, an inspiring Geisinger Community Medical Center volunteer for the last 10 years!

Sam has spina bifidia and maneuvers her volunteer duties in a wheelchair like a boss. If you’re greeted with a smiling face, helped to find your way or see flowers and balloons being brought to a patient’s room, it just might be our bright light, Sam. 🌟

She volunteered over 500 hours in 2023 alone and is nearing the 4,000-hour lifetime achievement mark. 🎖️ In recognition of Sam’s incredible contributions, we celebrate her this July, Disability Pride Month. It's the perfect time to honor her resilience, compassion and dedication to serving the community. Keep shining, Sam!

Jeffrey Pfeiffer turned his cancer diagnosis into a survival story, thanks to lifesaving technology and his care team at Geisinger Wyoming Valley Medical Center. When an X-ray showed a spot on his lung, further testing confirmed stage 4 lung cancer, which had spread to his brain.

In 2020 Mr. Pfeiffer’s brain tumor was treated with CyberKnife® . This advanced non-invasive robotic technology pinpoints radiation treatment for many cancers, including hard-to-reach and inoperable tumors.

“I owe Geisinger and I owe the team that worked with me,” he says. “As soon as I found out I had cancer, within three days, I had a team on me, and that team helped me get to where I am today. They’re great people over there.”

Now in remission, Jeffrey's celebrating life from the seat of his motorcycle and in the comfort of family. His journey proves the miracles of modern medicine and the will to never give up.
