🎉 Celebrating Hispanic Heritage Month

Dr. Veronica Galaviz is a gynecologic surgeon at Westchester Medical Center. For Dr. Galaviz, Hispanic heritage is rooted in resilience, family, and community. Raised along the Texas-Mexico border, she became the first in her family to leave home for education, supported by loved ones who valued perseverance and uplifting others.

Today, these values shape how she connects with patients and mentors the next generation of medical professionals. Her ability to speak Spanish brings comfort during vulnerable moments, helping patients feel seen, understood, and cared for.

Dr. Galaviz extends these principles to mentorship, ensuring residents and trainees feel they belong, their voices matter, and their diversity strengthens the field of medicine.

💬 "This year’s theme, Honoring the Past, Inspiring the Future, resonates deeply with me. I honor my roots by remembering the strength of my family and culture, and I inspire the future through intentional mentorship and inclusive care."

🙏 This Hispanic Heritage Month, join us in celebrating Dr. Galaviz and all who bring compassion, leadership, and cultural pride to healthcare.

🎉 Celebrating Hispanic Heritage Month

Growing up between the Dominican Republic and New York City, Dr. Rhadames Arturo Rojas witnessed firsthand the challenges faced by many in the Latin American community, from limited access to healthcare to language barriers and cultural misunderstandings that too often prevent people from receiving the care they need.

Those experiences inspired his journey to medicine. Today, as a cardiac electrophysiologist at HealthAlliance, a member of WMCHealth, Dr. Rojas is dedicated to bridging those gaps. He brings advanced cardiac care to patients throughout the Hudson Valley, serving underserved communities with compassion, cultural understanding, and deep respect for diversity.

💬 “To me, Hispanic heritage represents vibrant music, flavorful food, and the resilience of diverse cultures united by language and dreams,” says Dr. Rojas.

In an area where Hispanic populations represent nearly 27% of residents, Dr. Rojas remains committed to addressing health disparities and ensuring equitable, high-quality care for all.

❤️ This Hispanic Heritage Month, we celebrate Dr. Rojas and all who champion diversity, inclusion, and compassionate care in our communities.
