Wood element and you...

In Traditional Chinese Medicine, the Wood element is tied to the liver and the smooth flow of Qi, which helps regulate hormones, circulation, and detoxification. During this spring phase of upward, outward movement, the body can become more active internally—and if that flow gets “stuck,” it can show up on the skin. Acne, increased oil production, and congestion are often seen as signs of heat or stagnation in the liver channel, especially as the body shifts out of winter’s slower pace.

As Wood energy rises, sebum production can increase—almost like the skin is “waking up” along with everything else. If the body isn’t clearing efficiently, that excess oil can combine with heat and lead to breakouts, particularly around the jawline and sides of the face (areas often associated with liver imbalance in TCM).
