Eye Care Specialists is a comprehensive eye care practice that has been providing the eye care needs for men and women of all ages throughout Northeast Pennsylvania for nearly 50 years. The group is comprised of 25 Doctors; 10 ophthalmologists and 15 optometrists practicing in 15 Locations in Northeastern Pennsylvania. Eye Care Specialists is ranked in the top 2% of Ophthalmology practices in the United States. The physicians of Eye Care Specialists are not only committed to excellence in patient care, but are also leaders in medical and surgical eye care. Eye Care Specialists physicians provide the newest technologies available in the eye care industry and also participate in many clinical trails and FDA investigations. The doctors are graduates of some of the most prestigious educational institutions, including Harvard University, Duke University, Scheie Eye Institute, Washington Hospital Center, Temple University, and Wills Eye Hospital, Pennsylvania College of Optometry, etc. The doctors in the group are experts in the diagnosis and treatment of various eye disorders including, glaucoma management and surgery, no-stitch cataract surgery, retinal laser treatment, and macular degeneration treatment. They also specialize in elective and cosmetic procedures such as LASIK, bi-focal implant lenses, multi-focal lens implants, and ophthalmic plastic, reconstructive, and orbital surgery, etc. Physicians at EYE CARE SPECIALISTS also participate in many investigational studies which are leading the way for new technologies in the field of Ophthalmology. Dr. Kruger reports "We now have the ability at Eye Care Specialists to perform genetic testing that allows us to assess the risk of devloping macular degneration over a patient's lifetime. There is no blood test and the genetic data is obtained from a simple cheek swab. With the power of this new kind of information, we can individualize and optimize monitoring and treatment programs that are tailored to the individual patient. We are pleased to be able to offer this state of the art technology previously only available at academic centers of medicine right here in the Wyoming Valley at Eyecare Specialists."
