Karis grew up on the eastern shore and attended Saints Peter and Paul High School. She graduated from Towson University with a degree in Political Science and is currently pursuing her MSW at Walden University. Over the past year, Karis has worked at The Key School, supporting students and families in the aftercare program to meet their social-emotional needs. She has also been involved with The Marshall Learning Center in Anne Arundel County, where she dedicated her efforts to empower vulnerable youth through academic excellence, community engagement, and personal growth, providing essential resources and mental health support.

🎄✨ 6th Annual Christmas Magic Toy Drive – Registration Now Open (Only 15 Days Left!) ✨🎄

We’re so excited to welcome our parents and caregivers to the 6th Annual Christmas Magic Toy Drive happening in the early hours of December 6th at The Edge Arena in Stevensville! 💫

This free event is one of the most magical mornings of the year — where parents and caregivers can shop for free for gently used toys (not brand new) to help bring Christmas joy to their children.

When you arrive, you’ll be given a number to shop on the Edge Arena field and told how many gifts you can select per child. After all registered participants have finished shopping, the field will reopen at the end of the event for unlimited browsing of any remaining items.
✨ Must be an Eastern Shore resident to attend.

🎁 Bonus: We’ll have free gift wrapping on site, too!

It’s truly a magical morning — so come in your pajamas (yes, really — it’s a PJ party!) and enjoy the fun.
✨ Please note:

No children are permitted on the premises.

If you have a baby, they must be worn in a carrier on you. No strollers or baby car seats allowed.

¡Estamos muy emocionados de invitar a todos los padres y cuidadores a nuestro 6.º Christmas Magic Toy Drive, que se llevará a cabo en las primeras horas del 6 de diciembre en The Edge Arena en Stevensville! 💫

Este evento gratuito es una de las mañanas más mágicas del año — donde los padres y cuidadores pueden comprar gratis juguetes usados en buen estado (no nuevos) para llevar alegría navideña a sus hijos.

Good reminder for Halloween! 👻🎃

Halloween is supposed to be fun, but overstimulation doesn’t care about your plans.

The crowds, the sugar, the itchy costumes, the noise - it’s a lot for little nervous systems.

If your child melts down mid–trick-or-treat, don’t panic.
They’re not “ruining” the night. Their body’s just saying, “too much, too fast.”

💛 Try this instead:

Step aside and breathe with them.

Offer water or a snack—regulation needs fuel.

Skip one house. Or ten. The candy isn’t the point.

Halloween isn’t about how long you stay out.
It’s about making memories that feel safe enough to enjoy.

🎄✨ Registration Now Open – 6th Annual Christmas Magic Toy Drive! ✨🎄

If your family could use a little extra help this holiday season, Tides of Grace is here for you.

Registration is now open for our 6th Annual Gently Used Toy Drive, taking place on Saturday, December 6th at 7:00 AM at The Edge Arena in Stevensville, Maryland.

This event is open to all Eastern Shore residents and has become one of our most heartwarming community traditions!

🎁 What to Expect:
Each year, Tides of Grace transforms an entire 25,000 sq. ft. indoor soccer arena at the Edge Arena in Stevensville MD into a Winter Wonderland—filled wall-to-wall with gently used toys donated by generous individuals from across the Eastern Shore.

The night before, a dedicated team of volunteers works tirelessly to sort, organize, and beautifully arrange every toy, creating a joyful and magical shopping experience for parents and caregivers. Parents and caregivers are invited to come and shop completely free for gently used toys and gifts to help ease the stress and financial burden the holidays can bring.

✨ Please note: This event is for parents and caregivers only. Children are not permitted to attend so we can preserve the magic of Christmas morning.

💚 It’s Mental Illness Awareness Week (October 5–11)! According to Mental Health America, nearly 1 in 5 American adults will have a diagnosable mental health condition in any given year.

Let’s break the stigma, raise awareness, and show support for those living with mental health challenges. Together, we can build a community of hope and healing.

💜QACL is proud to launch a new partnership with Not My Child to support families impacted by addiction.

Beginning Tuesday, November 4 at 6pm, the Kent Island Branch will host "Choose Hope", a monthly support group offering families a safe space to share, connect, and heal together. Beyond the meetings, participants will also have opportunities for off-site enrichment and bonding activities.

We are committed to bringing these much needed resources to our community—because no one should face these challenges alone.
