Venus McClary Obituary
With Sorow, Dimery and Rogers Funeral Home announces the passing of Venus McClary of Salters, SC.

Venus McClary, age 86, went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, April 26, 2026, at Summerville Community Hospice House in Summerville, SC. Born in Salters, SC on November 25, 1939, she was the daughter of the late Ellaray McClary and Sherman Croskey. Sparrow, as she was affectionately called, was educated in Greeleyville, Williamsburg County, SC.
Venus loved the Lord and her church, Union Missionary Baptist Church. She served on the usher board, sang on the choir, and attended Sunday School.
Venus was a Classroom Aide at Lane Elementary School prior to moving to Philadelphia, PA where she decided to retire and care for her grandchildren whom she loved very dearly.
In additions to her parents, she was preceded in death by her daughter, Beverly McClary; granddaughter, Sharonica McClary; sisters, Dorothy Bradshaw and Lela McClary; and brothers, Roman McClary.
Those who are left to cherish her memories forever are her loving daughter, Joanne McClary Kears; grandchildren, Quinton L. (Tonya) McClary of Philadelphia, PA, Michael A. (Cheryl) Cooper of Raleigh, NC, Andre C. (Caitlin) White of Smyrna, GA, Gary M. McClary of Woodstock, GA, and Sharita Fisher of Los Angeles, CA; great grandchildren, Nazir Gibson of Philadephia, PA, Faiyona Ponder of Mayport, FL, Zyquell McClary, Zymere McClary, Ella Ray and Elana Cooper, Naquavion McClary; great great grandchildren, Symer Gibson; sisters, Mary Ann Canty of Greeleyville, SC, Lizzie Mae Horsford of Salters, SC, Sandy Caldwell of Manning, SC, Celia Mae Croskey & Brenda Lyles both of Columbia, SC; brother, Stanley Caldwell of Greeleyville, SC.
Special mention of love and appreciation for all their support, the stepmother of Joanne, Mrs. Rosella McClary and the siblings of Joanne, Steven McClary, Lonell Montgomery, Kendrick McClary, and Alison Stephenson.
