Hello! I hope all of you are keeping anxiety in check as we are all in a strange time with Covid-19. There's lots of worries with homeschooling kids when you aren't a teacher, being in the house 24/7 and financial uncertainties as well. Know that I'm here for you still. If you would like telehealth sessions, please contact me. We will talk about options.

I really love this. I feel often I see clients who would benefit from being more compassionate to themselves.

Good morning! Be kind to yourself. I find often as a therapist that my clients are too hard on themselves. That's destructive to your self esteem. Good thing is that we can work on improving your self esteem.

Hello. It's been awhile since I've written. This neat story about "two wolves" is a very good analogy of how our thoughts control our emotions which affects our behavior. Anyone who has sat in session with me has probably received the two wolves story from me. It's powerful when we change our thoughts!

Happy New Year! A fresh new start! Sometimes people can get down after the festivities and excitement of the holidays are over. We can do things to improve our mood. Here's 4 tips in this article for preventing worsening mood. https://www.psychologytoday.com/blog/the-power-rest/201612/4-tips-warding-depression?utm_source=FacebookPost&utm_medium=FBPost&utm_campaign=FBPost

I think we can change the course of depressive symptoms with consistent, small interventions. Also, changing the way we think about a situation affects & improves our mood. If you know someone who needs assistance with depression, have them give me a call @ 281-348-0830.

1. Start each day with a half hour of sunlight.

It's been awhile since I've updated with a nugget of information. I really like this article. This is written by a neuropsychologist. There is a saying among neuroscientists that goes, "neurons that fire together, wire together". Well what does this mean? "Whatever we repeatedly sense and feel and want and think is slowly but surely sculpting neural structure", reports Dr Rick Hanson. In other words, if your mind is flooded with negative thoughts, the brain learns this. It is easier for the brain to receive those negative thoughts if they are prolonged, repeated, leaving an imprint. AND likewise, flooding our brain with positive feelings/thoughts creates positive wiring. It's interesting research! Enjoy the article. http://greatergood.berkeley.edu/article/item/how_to_grow_the_good_in_your_brain

Rick Hanson explains how we can protect ourselves from the stress of negative experiences.
