Services and programs include Adult Health, Breast and Cervical Cancer Prevention and Health Promotion, Animal/Rabies Control, Child Health, Care Coordination for Children (CC4C), Childhood Lead Prevention, Environmental Health services, Family Planning, Immunizations, Laboratory Services, Prenatal Care, Pregnancy Care Home Case Management, Public Health Social Work, Vital Records, TB/Communicable Diseases/STD/HIV, and WIC.

We are calling all 13-19-year-olds to enter a giveaway! Now through October 31st, we will have an online survey open to improve our Family Planning services. To enter, you must complete the entire survey and be 13-19 years of age. The winner will be selected by drawing and receive a $25 gift card. To enter, please complete the survey below!

Moving (PCSing) is a part of life for many military families, and your WIC benefits can move with you. You can even set up benefits before your household goods arrive at your new home! Many WIC offices are located on or near military bases, making it easier to get support. October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month. SAFE in Lenoir held a ceremony to recognize and show support. Words from SAFE Executive Director, Erin Passailaigue, Lenoir County Commissioner, Chairman Linda Rouse-Sutton, Health Director, Pam Brown, and Kinston Mayor, Don Hardy, were given to lift help and support.

At the start of September, we launched a new series of Step Challenges that will be held monthly throughout the year. The goal is to motivate and create an environment of connectiveness, healthy behaviors, and fun-spirited competition within LCHD!

We are proud to announce our Winner, Ms. Wanda Staten, for achieving a cumulative total of 497,379 steps during the period from September 1 to 29. She reached 100% of the daily challenge goal of 6,500 steps. Congratulations!!! 🏅

We also recognize Mrs. Lindsay Jones as the 1st Runner-Up, with a cumulative total of 267,313 steps and meeting 25 out of 26 days of the daily challenge goal! Congratulations!!! 🎉

We had a total of 23 staff members sign up for this inaugural step challenge, and we are excited to see who will take the winning place next month!

This quick test uses a heel stick, hearing screen, and oxygen check to find serious but treatable conditions. Catching things early is a big deal—it leads to faster treatment and better health outcomes for babies.
