Love That Lasts: The Story of a Man and His Little Dog:

About a year ago, our hospice team had the privilege of caring for a gentleman whose heart was as big as his love for a tiny Chihuahua named Bebe. The two had been inseparable for many years—wherever he went, that little dog was by his side, a constant companion through good days and hard ones alike.
As his illness progressed, he could no longer care for his beloved pet, and it weighed heavily on him. Our hospice team, along with kind volunteers and community members, stepped in to help. Together, we found new homes for twelve dogs who had been part of his care and life. Each one found a new family, a new beginning, and a new lap to love.
But one small soul—the tiniest and oldest of them all—remained. This sweet Chihuahua, full of gentle affection and quiet devotion, has continued to be loved and cared for by members of our team and generous volunteers. Though she never found a permanent home, she has never been without love.
Her story reminds us that love doesn’t end when a life does—it lingers, soft and steady, in the lives and hearts that were touched along the way. Every wag of her tail is a reminder of a man who loved deeply, and of a community that came together to make sure that love carried on.

🍁As September comes to a close, we pause to reflect on the heart of Hospice Care. Hospice is more than end-of-life support. It is about honoring each moment, bringing comfort, dignity, and peace to patients and families when it matters most.
🧡This season reminds us of the beauty in slowing down, cherishing loved ones, and offering care that goes beyond medicine.
🍂Let's continue to spread awareness and compassion for those walking this sacred journey. Every Heart matters

Gentiva Hospice of Kinston celebrated 4th of July week with G.I. Joe's Military Living History Museum. This week, we take the time to honor and recognize the people who swore an oath to protect and serve our great nation. We give our thanks to all our military and veterans for defending our flag, the red, white, and blue. Freedom that many love, but it is not free, because of the cost and sacrifice our soldiers give willingly. Thank you for defending this great land, and we hope everyone has an amazing 4th of July week and weekend.

Gentiva Hospice of Kinston volunteers had a blast today as they went around the Kinston Community handing out walking taco bags. The volunteers prepared the meals that morning and were out and about throughout the afternoon, listening, supporting, and befriending the beautiful Kinston community. We are proud to serve all and continue to be an agency that serves everyone in our community.

Gentiva Hospice of Kinston was grateful to attend and participate with G.I Joe's in honoring Women Veterans on June 12th. Women's Veterans Day is a time to recognize, listen, and support this special group that has given so much of themselves to our country and our community. We were so awed by their presence. They have given so much to so many, yet here they stand, asking to serve, asking to help, asking how to volunteer more. This was such a time for reflection for our Kinston Team. We ask ourselves, how can we help our community more? How could we reach more of those in need? We will always be an agency that looks to give back and serve our community.
