Team Member Tuesday!

Meet Amber Wilson! Amber works in Medical Records at the Manor and has also served as a CNA and CMA for the past 4½ years. Her favorite part of the job is getting to interact with residents and being part of their lives, making a difference every single day.

Outside of work, Amber loves crocheting, reading, gardening, and spending time with her family. She grew up in Attica, Kansas and moved to Kiowa after she and her now husband decided to build their life here. One of her favorite treats is grabbing a tea from Crazy’s Sweet Shop, letting Crazy’s surprise her so she can try something new. Her life motto? “Don’t knock it till you try it.”

Amber says her favorite memories at KDH all involve the many activities she’s shared with residents, and what she appreciates most about her job is her co-workers. We’re so thankful to have you on our team, Amber! 💙

Dr. Scott Porter with big news!

Dr. Scott Porter, who regularly visits Kiowa District Healthcare to perform surgery, has been honored with an Excellence in Health Care award by the Wichita Business Journal.

We are grateful to partner with providers who are being recognized for outstanding care, and even more grateful that our patients have access to that level of skill and expertise close to home.

🍜💛 Homemade goodness at Kiowa District Manor! 💛🍜

Our residents made homemade noodles from scratch and turned them into delicious chicken and noodles served over mashed potatoes, and man did they enjoy every bite! Moments like these make our Manor feel just like home.

Holiday fun for our Buffalo Room! 🍕🎳

Over Christmas break, our Buffalo Room students enjoyed a fun day out bowling and eating at Pizza Ranch. It was a great way to celebrate the season, make memories, and enjoy time together outside the classroom!

Our Manor residents enjoyed a wonderful trip to Botanica Illuminations in Wichita, taking in the beautiful lights, displays, and festive atmosphere. It was a night full of smiles, memories, and holiday magic that will be cherished for a long time.

💊💙 Happy National Pharmacist Day! 💙💊

Today we are celebrating Luciana Thornton, our dedicated clinical pharmacist with 17 years of hospital experience. Since 2020, Luciana has proudly served the community at Kiowa District Hospital and is deeply passionate about providing quality rural health care.

Luciana lives in Harper, Kansas with her husband and three children and, outside of work, her family stays busy running a small orchard and homestead complete with a dairy cow named Mirabel, two pigs, honey bees, chickens, and a dog named Maggie.

Thank you, Luciana, for your commitment, compassion, and the vital role you play in caring for our patients and community.

Our toddler class has been busy little artists, spreading some sparkle for the New Year! These sweet kiddos created colorful homemade cards full of love, glitter, and tiny handprints to brighten the days of the wonderful residents at our towns Manor. We hope these small creations bring big smiles and remind everyone that fresh starts and joy come in all sizes, especially toddler sized!

Meanwhile, our infant rooms explored balloons to celebrate the New Year and the Buffalo room had their own balloon drop!💛
