IDPH is deeply concerned by the federal government issuing medical recommendations that are not backed by the full weight of scientific evidence. There is no link between acetaminophen use during pregnancy and autism.

Acetaminophen (Tylenol) has been established as a safe pain reliever and fever reducer for use during pregnancy. Untreated fevers are clearly associated with pregnancy complications. Pregnant people should not "tough it out."

Pregnant people and children can take acetaminophen (Tylenol) as needed and as directed by their healthcare provider.
