Midwife Assistants & Birth Professional Educational Courses Working with the Midwifery Model of Care to provide Midwives with Certified Birth Assistants.

We offer a variety of classes and workshops to educate and prepare Birth Assistant Students to become eligible for certification. Our certification process is thorough and our training provides hands on experience for skills needed to attend births in a supporting role.

We’re back in the classroom! Chelsea and Micki are teaching the Business Class at Bastyr University for the 3rd year (Senior) student midwives!! We’ll be helping them prepare for graduation and what’s next. 📚

In between births and teaching we take time to care for ourselves. Training for and then climbing the Columbia Tower in Seattle to raise $ and awareness for blood cancer is one of the ways that we decompress and stay healthy. We encourage all of you to take time and care for yourselves too so you can continue the good work. 🤍

NRP recert! We are so fortunate that our instructor comes to the birth center so we can practice these skills in our environment. We practice on the floor, on the bed, next to the tub, etc. We don’t need these skills very often, hardly ever! It’s important that we practice them within our teams so that when the time comes, we are communicative and ready!

NRP recert! The 9th edition is out. We hosted midwives and assistants at Puget Sound Birth Center for some hands on skills! We've been doing this for awhile now... (24 years) and we still learn new things!

15 years ago, we started a program to teach people how to support midwives at births. We traveled to many different states. We hauled a couple of suitcases worth of equipment through the airports to simulate a birth center and home birth settings.
10 years ago, we moved a portion of our training online. No, we don’t have to take quite as much equipment when we travel because there are so many fantastic birth centers and midwives out there who we can train alongside. We’ve trained more than 700 people! Some of whom are now midwives 🤍
Our mission remains the same. To serve professional midwives with knowledgeable and confident assistants. We are looking forward to all that 2026 has to offer!

Who else uses herbs routinely? Herbs have always played an important role in birth. We use these to prevent PPH… oh and a little peppermint to stimulate urination 😌
