Eden Home Health of Bellingham, WA is celebrating a decade of "Bringing Connected Care Home"! In honor of our milestone anniversary, we're Spotlighting our long-serving Employee Owners who've served our community since Eden's inception on 8/1/14 (and, in some cases, before!). We're honored to be entrusted with the care of our patients and family members!
Meet Kathy Araminta, LPN with Eden Home Health since 2005, when she joined the team of what was then known as Walgreens Home Health. Kathy's contributions to the team and her many years of nursing service have improved many lives in our community and her value to the team cannot be overstated! Thank you for your support of our patients and community Kathy! :)
"Hello, my name is Kathy (Hetrick/Radonski) Araminta. Born right here in Bellingham, Washington. Unique nowadays. A Former fast-food employee, just down the street from Bellingham Eden, I learned to make burgers and provide customer service, running a drive thru cash register. Not an easy job back then counting change! :)
My hardest emotional job was working as a CNA in nursing care facilities. All of the residents were my grandparents and when they passed away it was heartbreaking! After years of caregiving, I decided to become a licensed practical nurse and entered Bellingham Tech college. Best decision ever!!
Once I got my new LPN license, I worked for 4 great Ear/Nose/Throat doctors. I learned a lot and most important of all, I would learn from a trainee about a job, the most amazing job as a home health nurse! Driving to see patients in their homes sounded exactly what I was looking for. I applied and to my astonishment I got the job! August 2005, I started my home health nursing journey.
August 2014 Eden home health arrived in Bellingham. Challenging times at the beginning, eventually the transition would smooth out and improve over time.
Marking 10 years this 2024 has really flown by. Eden company has grown immensely, adding Eden Home care and Eden Hospice.
August of 2023 my family unexpectedly lost our dad. If it were not for Eden Hospice, my dad would have passed in the hospital. Quick help from Tobias, RN case manager, he contacted our Eden hospice, and we were able to bring my dad home on Wednesday evening 8/16/23. Eden hospice nurse arrived while my dad enjoyed his last beer in the home he built.
My absolute utmost reason I continue home health nursing is obviously all the patients I have had the privilege of helping.
Providing personal direct patient care in their own home is an honor. Home health nursing is truly amazing job. I have met the most wonderful and memorable people. I have seen eagles, bobcat, elk, cougar, deer and pheasant. No bear encounters yet!
In my personal world, I have a wonderfully fantastic, supportive guy Grant he has put up with me for 17 years. When I need a snow chauffeur, he is ready to go, he loves snow driving. We have been in some areas where I was certain we could not reach my patient. He would put our Jeep in 4-wheel drive and hit the skinny pedal! We would make it thru to reach my patient. He is a professional pilot car driver. Get there w/Grant is our company for oversized load transport!
I am a dog mom of 3. Starting with Hector 11 years old Munsterlander, Oliver (Crusty) almost 2-year-old Scottish terrier (he loves dirt hence name crusty) and Bocephus (Bow) 7-month yellow lab from Bow, Washington. They are an entertaining bunch. I also have 2 hens Wilma and Betty Barred rock.
I enjoy trout fishing on Silver lake in our Boston Whaler. I must confess, I mostly enjoy the quiet beautiful hillsides and daydreaming. I find myself bird watching forgetting to keep an eye on the tip of my fishing pole.
I continue to look forward to all the patients I have yet to meet and see the ones that may need our services again.
Thank goodness for home health. It certainly has been a wonderful career choice for me."
Thank you for your care, support and many years of service Kathy!
