It’s Therapist Thursday and this week we are welcoming a new Speech Language Pathologist to our team: Allie Renfrow!

She graduated with her masters in 2018 from Western Illinois University after earning her bachelors degree at MIZZOU. She previously worked full time at area schools for 5 years with Special School District of St. Louis County.

Today’s “Talking Tuesday” tip is a sneaky way to improve language for your kids all the way through elementary school!

Before you ever read the words, take a quick “picture walk” through the book with your child. Talk about what you see. Guess what might happen. Then after the story, ask them to retell it in their own words.

This simple routine builds vocabulary, strengthens sentence structure, improves sequencing, and boosts comprehension—all without drilling or pressure. It turns your child into an active storyteller instead of a passive listener.
