The Speech Spot provides speech and language therapy to children from toddler through middle school.

We offer flexible after school hours and some weekend hours.

Hey! Here’s a for your Tuesday!
Good news - it’s super simple: Repeat back what your child says, but take it 1 step further by adding on a word or two.

In our clinician/SLP world, this is known as “expanding” or “recasting”, and it has some of the strongest direct evidence to have positive effects on children’s language development.

When we respond to what a child says, with just a slightly improved or expanded version, kids tend to pick up on grammatical forms faster, especially when it’s done frequently and directly tied to what they just said.

Other good news? This can be done throughout language development/ as a child grows, as you are continually just adding on a little bit more.
