Mark Zimmer - Deputy Mayor

Mark Zimmer - Deputy Mayor I'm Mark Zimmer, Deputy Mayor of the City of Kirkwood, Missouri! I intend to listen to all citizens and work to represent you! I’d appreciate your support!

I ran for Kirkwood City Council because I love Kirkwood and want our city to remain a wonderful place to live, work, and enjoy for future generations. I was elected August 2, 2016 and re-elected April 3, 2018. I'm currently running for re-election to a second full term on April 5, 2022. During the last five years, I have served as your Council Member for the City of Kirkwood, Missouri. I am a subcommittee member on the Vision Zero Task Force. For four years I volunteered for the city on the Citizens Finance Committee; during the last 2 years I served as the Vice Chair of this committee. The Citizens Finance Committee is a group of ordinary citizens who review all city budgets and make recommendations to the Council. I am the Network Contracting Management Senior Manager at Evernorth, a division of Cigna. I have a Master’s Degree in Business Administration with over thirty years’ business and management experience. I am a member, volunteer, and leader at Concordia Lutheran Church. I volunteered with the Summit Seekers bible study group, help as an assistant during worship, and have visited Concordia residents who are homebound. I enjoy helping others and working to make a real difference. I am a former volunteer with the Kirkwood School district. I’ve met wonderful teachers, parents, and students at Westchester and Keysor Elementaries, North Kirkwood Middle School, and Kirkwood High School. Our great schools have kept families in Kirkwood as well as attracted new students to our district. I believe that all citizens in Kirkwood should be heard, have a voice, and be represented by the members of the City Council. I intend to listen to our residents, address concerns, and work together to solve problems. I want Kirkwood to remain the most desirable city in Missouri for the future. In order to accomplish this, I believe the following:

--All residents of Kirkwood are equal and should have a voice and representation
--We should strive to maintain fiscal responsibility and stability while providing excellent services
--Working together to create solutions and solve problems is a priority
--All Kirkwood citizens must have good representation through the City Council
--We should preserve and maintain great neighborhoods, public services, and Kirkwood’s vibrant businesses
--Communication is one of my priorities, and I will listen and keep listening
--All citizens should be treated with respect, dignity, and fairness
--We should preserve the unique charm, history, and vibrancy of our city

It is with profound sadness that Katy and I share the passing of our dear friend, neighbor, and former Campaign Treasurer Mr. Joshua L. Hibbits. Joshua was an exceptional person, loving father to his daughter Laney, great neighbor, and friend. He helped me during my last campaign when I really needed it, and we will always remember his involvement in our last campaign. Our daughter loved pet sitting for him, and he was a favorite client of hers. He had made many important life changes recently and should serve as an inspiration to others, especially how he achieved his fitness goals. I will always remember his support, help, and friendship. God bless Josh, Laney, and his entire family.

Joshua Lee Hibbits, of Kirkwood, Missouri, passed away on October 10, 2025. Josh was born on July 6, 1977 to Steven L. And Tricia L. Hibbits in Farmington, Missouri. He worked as an Account Director at Cushman Wakefield, where he was a well respected leader. After graduating from Oakville High…

During last night's City Council meeting, a resident spoke and said we should not vote for something we don't believe in, or support, or that we will regret.

I'll be perfectly clear - in my nine years serving the people of Kirkwood, I have never, ever voted for something I didn't support, or believe in, or thought would be detrimental to the people of Kirkwood. NEVER. Although some votes have been extremely difficult, and I am open-minded enough that I could have voted differently on a few of my past votes, I am satisfied with how I have always voted. I believe I vote in the best interests of the citizens of Kirkwood.
