Was told I wouldn’t be allowed to teach yoga in San Diego any longer if I didn’t post a pic with me doing some yoga stuff on Potato Chip Rock, so here it is.

Looking ahead to this New Year I hope to release regrets, guilt and trauma that is holding me back from showing my true self to the world. I want to create space to allow in greater self-love, new connections and new adventures that will enrich life. I look to go deeper into my meditation and yoga practices to heal past wounds and rewrite old stories, and I hope to share these lessons with whoever needs them to aid in their journeys. Happy New Year Fam!

~Make me as big and open as the plains,
As honest as the hawse between my legs,
Clean as the wind that blows behind the rains,
Free as the hawk that circles down the breeze!~

The “I just got out of a half frozen lake dance”.

Modern society allows us to be comfortable and unchallenged, like ever before. I’m not arguing that we should go back to the grit and grind of premodern life, not sure I’d be able to last a day there. I do however advocate the importance of putting myself in compromising situations, in the hopes that I can train my mind to remain calm and breathe my way through it. Knowing that life, even with all of its modern comforts, will throw me curveballs that will test my physical, mental and emotional strength. These times of struggle create the spaces in which we grow. Asanas practiced in a hot and sweaty room create these same opportunities, where I can succumb to the discomfort and suffering; or strengthen my resolve to observe the fluctuations of my mental state and breathe through these temporary states.

I invite you to learn with me this week, come Yoga!

Thinking I’d like to rejoin the social media world. The pressure to post is real and often too much for me to process. If I’m going to be apart of the Instagram world, my hope is to be completely authentic and truthful. With that in mind, here are some uncomfortable truths about me,

1. I struggle with to***co addiction. This is embarrassing on several levels, most of all with my knowledge of the importance of breath and the lungs. I’m not buying to***co at the moment but will too often bum a smoke.
2. I struggle with money management, while I feel I’m getting much better with my finances, too often I’ve borrowed $ and not paid it back. While it’s easier to feel less sh*tty when missing a credit card payment, not paying back friends and family is the worst. Too those Ive taken of advantage of and abused their trust, I’m sorry and I hope to make it right.
3. I struggle with communication and will often isolate myself from my family and friends. A lot of times I’m social and love to be around those I love. Other times I start telling myself stories, like how no one understands what I’m going through and I’m all alone. When people reach out to me in these moments I turn away from their love and won’t answer texts or calls, as I choose isolation instead.

Thank you for hearing me out and being apart of my life. With more honesty, my hope is to accept where I’ve come up short and heal the wounds that are causing me to repeat these harmful patterns. Hopefully my story is helpful to some of you out there that with similar struggles, I send you my support and hope you’ll choose compassion rather than criticism. I hope to give myself the same treatment. Much love insta world!

50 days of meditation through the Waking Up App completed! Still can’t levitate or instantly drop into nirvana, but I’ve noticed small changes in my mood and mind that have got me stoked. Just like with everything it helps to let go of instant mastery or gratification, take things one step at a time and your going to get there. Wherever you are in your practice, I salute you, the work your doing is so worthwhile. Keep going!

This is your Meditation Monday service alert 🚨

Set your time for ten minutes, close your eyes, and focus on your breath. As thoughts arise, resist attachment to what comes up; observe, let go and repeat.

If your able to go out into nature, even better. 🤓

Feeling stuck or unmotivated in your meditation practice? I was, even knowing how great a consistent practice felt for me, I’d often make excuses to why I didn’t have to meditate and fall into a slump. Recently I’ve started practicing with the help of Sam Harris’ Meditation App, “Waking Up”; and it’s been an amazing tool to keep me excited and motivated to sit and observe. Each day’s new lesson is full of insight and support that has immensely improved my daily practice. My ego had been telling me that I didn’t need anyone’s help, “I’m a yoga teacher, I can teach myself” it’d say. How silly. Why not seek out and utilize all the help possible, especially in this age, where the inter-webs and apps have brought everything to our fingertips.

Shout out to Sam Harris and the Waking Up App for your work, it’s been a joy to start my days with each new lesson. What teachers or apps inspire you? Let me know. 🤓

Sub is “kinda” shining, The weather is sweet
Make you want to move your dancing feet

Really been loving the rainy days we’ve been having. Makes me really appreciate the sunshine and amazing San Diego weather I’m accustomed to and that I often take for granted. The duality of life is fun.
