KHS PPO needs you! Yes, YOU! We need a co-vice-president for the 2025-2026 school year. Co-VP will help oversee grade level committee chairs or general PPO committee chairs, work closely with the co-presidents and school administration to serve PPO's mission of serving studen ts, honoring staff and uniting parents. Today we celebrated the last day of the school year with our annual Staff Appreciation & Retiree Celebration! PPO treated the staff to pulled chicken, beef brisket, macaroni and cheese, cole slaw, put baked beans from Dalies, watermelon, homemade brownies, Crumbl cookies, soda, sparkling water and vegan and gluten free treats. This was all made possible by your generosity last fall in our Pioneer Challenge.

In addition, thanks to your kindness (over $9000 total), we collected enough in our venmo campaign so that each employee got a $35 gift card and all six retirees received an “endless summer” reblooming sunflower to enjoy in their new endless summer.

Huge thanks to Marie Romano and Michelle Gegg for chairing staff appreciation all year and to our volunteers today who helped set up, pick up and clean up this huge feast!

🎉A GREAT Student Appreciation Day! 🎉 Thanks to your generous Pioneer Challenge donations💰, the kids were all surprised 😳 & completely delighted 🥰 to choose multiple snacks. Tables were set up at DF & Essex doors and in the Commons to ensure all kids had access. ❤️🤍🍪🍿🥨

Nothing says WE LOVE STUDENTS (and staff!) like 3600 individually packaged snacks for tmrw’s Spring Student Appreciation Day - and YOU can help hand out 2-3 per person at DF, Essex & outside the Commons during both lunch hours (arrive 10:30, check in at main DF office for Raptor badge, will be done by 1). Please respond below if you can make it & what location you’d like - the more, the merrier!!!

With just one week of school left this year, we are extremely grateful for the 253 staff members at Kirkwood High School who teach our kids, lead, mentor, advocate for them, keep school safe and clean and so much more. We had a week of mini celebrations last week for National Staff Appreciation Week.

At KHS, our biggest staff celebration of the year occurs on the last day of school. KHS PPO throws a luncheon and provides all 253 staff members with a gift card as a small token of appreciation on behalf of all KHS students and families.

From now through Saturday, May 17, we will be accepting donations of any amount through Venmo--our account is -PPO www.venmo.com/KHS-PPO (there is a picture of the KHS Pioneer Parents’ Organization logo like the one above). If you prefer cash or check donations, they can be dropped off in the Welcome Center please shoot us an email at marieromano76@gmail.com, so that we can be sure we receive it.

Our KHS community is always so generous in supporting this effort—THANK YOU in advance for your help and donations; our incredible staff LOVES this strong show of support.

For our final day of Staff Appreciation week mini celebrations, staff was treated to donuts courtesy of 100% Chiropractic, yogurt, fruit, a big variety of granola/power/protein bars and grab and go breakfast treats.

100% Chiropractic also generously gave away a one-hour massage to one lucky staff member! We are so grateful for their support.

Check your email for communication from KSD about school tomorrow.

Boils down to this (ha! boil order humor, too soon?), school is on, toilets flush, faucets work for handwashing but drinking fountains likely won’t be working so if you’re worried about dehydration, bring safe drinking water from home.

Today’s staff appreciation day theme is JUNK FOOD! We have a huge spread of aweet ans salty treats. It’s like a salad bar, but also the exact opposite nutritionally!

Today’s sweet staff celebration is as a sundae bar with frozen custard donated by Andy’s Frosen Custard! Kind families provided all the toppings! Thanks to Kirsten, Stacey, Sara, Marie, Kary, Barb, Amy, Amoreena, Rebecca, Alicia, Catherine, Julie, Annabel, Laura, Lindsay, and Jaimie.

PPO provided dog safe ice cream and treats for our school service dogs.
