During Women’s History Month, we will be taking time throughout the month to recognize and celebrate some of the incredible women who help make our mission possible every day. 💜

While we may not be able to highlight every amazing woman in our organization individually, we want all of the women on our team to know how deeply valued and appreciated you are. Your dedication, compassion, leadership, and strength make a lasting impact on the people we serve and the communities we support.

This month is about celebrating the women who inspire us, uplift others, and help move our mission forward every single day.

Thank you for all that you do. ✨

As we come to the close of February and Black History Month, we are reminded that Black history is American history—every chapter, every voice, every story.

It is also a history of strength, healing, and recovery.
Of communities that have turned pain into purpose, struggle into resilience, and hope into action.

Mental health and recovery are not separate from this story—they are essential to it. Healing happens when people are seen, supported, and given space to grow. Recovery is possible when compassion leads the way.

As we move forward, may we continue to honor the past by investing in wellness, equity, and opportunity—so everyone has the chance to heal and thrive.

Black history is American history. Always.

Dr. E. Kitch Childs was a respected psychologist, educator, and advocate who dedicated her career to improving mental health care for Black individuals and families.

Her work emphasized culturally responsive treatment, education, and the importance of meeting people where they are—with dignity, understanding, and compassion. She helped shape how mental health services could better serve communities that had long been overlooked or misunderstood.

Her influence continues in the professionals she mentored and the lives she touched.

Black history is American history.
And mental health leadership is part of that legacy.

Bebe Moore Campbell was a writer, advocate, and trailblazer who helped bring mental health conversations out of the shadows—especially within Black communities.

After witnessing how mental illness affected her own family, she became a powerful voice for compassion, education, and access to care. She founded NAMI-Inglewood and worked tirelessly to reduce stigma and remind us that mental health challenges do not discriminate.

Her legacy lives on every time someone feels safe asking for help.

Black history is American history.
And mental health advocacy is part of our shared story.

“When day comes, we ask ourselves where can we find light in this never-ending shade?”

Amanda Gorman reminded the nation that poetry can heal, challenge, and unite.
Her words became part of America’s story—spoken on one of the biggest stages in our democracy.

Black history is American history.
And Black voices shape our future.

Today we honor the life and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.
A reminder that service, justice, and compassion are powerful tools for change.

At The Transition House, Inc. and Inspire Counseling & Support Center, we remain committed to uplifting our community, advocating for equity, and walking alongside those on their journey toward healing and stability.

“Life’s most persistent and urgent question is: What are you doing for others?” – Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.
