In early February of 2017, new opportunity and the decision to take a big chance led us to the opportunity to purchase this personal care home from a well-known and well-respected owner who had spent decades building a safe and compassionate environment for the aging population.
Building off of that reputation, we wanted to continue with the mission to provide a safe, happy, healthy and MOST importantly, compassionate environment for the men and women entering the stages of their lives where safely caring for themselves becomes a risky challenge and families are facing the difficult reality that they are no longer able to provide the time or the amount of assistance that their loved ones are in need of.
We both have extensive background in the medical field including Tim with almost 30 years as an EMT; Erin with 10 years as a registered nurse with experience in critical care, management, palliative and home care and several years as an EMT and 911 dispatcher.
We believe that the care and love that your family member deserves to receive is the same love and care we would give to our own family members and loved ones. Because of this, we look at each and every one of our residents as one of our own. Their families become our families.
We strongly promote in-home services such as visiting nursing and various therapies to assist with maintaining and stabilizing the health and well-being of our ladies and gentlemen. Improving overall health leads to better quality of life and lengthened life span.
The concept of aging in place is important to us and your loved one as well. The decision to transition to a community-living setting is often a difficult and emotional experience. Grieving the loss of one’s independence and acknowledging that loss is traumatic. So is the thought of, “Am I going to be able to stay here forever or will I have to go somewhere else as my needs increase?” We believe that being able to navigate through the aging process and the corresponding needs that arise while continuing to live in our facility is important in providing peace and comfort to those that call Heritage Meadows home. As a result, we work with various hospice agencies that can provide the additional assistance and support to those residents that have qualifying diagnoses to better manage their symptoms and afflictions that affect their quality of life and everyday living. Whether it be for only a few days or for several months or years, by incorporating this additional service of care, we increase the chance of your loved one being able to live out their remainder of their life comfortably, peacefully and without having to worry about yet another transition to another facility with staff that they don’t know at the most critical time of their lives.
We provide multiple other services to help alleviate the added stress of you worrying about meeting your loved one’s needs. We are fortunate and blessed to have a well-respected, local, private practice that provides in-home visits for medical evaluations and treatments of their patients here. A podiatrist that makes routine rounds to the facility for foot-care needs. A beautician with over 20 years of experience in the facility that provides routine services including hair cuts, perms and color treatments. Multiple volunteers that enjoy spending time with the residents through games, bingo, crafts, musical entertainment, youth groups and religious affiliations. Scheduled church services by a non-denominational minister also bless the residents with a sermon, organ music and individualized time spent visiting with them. Mobile lab and mobile diagnostic services are also available for the residents when these needs arise.
The environment is very family and pet friendly. We encourage and support daily family involvement; many families are present every day if not several days of the week. They are not only compassionate, caring and devoted to their loved ones but also to the other residents that reside at Heritage Meadows, as they all have bonded and include each other in their visits. Families of our dearly departed residents still visit on a regular basis, solidifying their genuine compassion and dedication during their family member’s time there and after. It is truly a loving, fun and enjoyable environment to be in....and I attribute that to our residents and their families. They make it what it is.
We strive to provide employees with compassion and sincerity as their number one foundation of their core. Our motto is: “I can teach someone how to bathe, dress, feed and walk someone. I can’t teach them to be a nice person. That has to come from the heart and that has to be consistent.” To us, it does not matter how efficient a person might be or how willing they are to work....we have to be able to know that, without a doubt, when we leave the home, that these ladies and gentlemen are being cared for with the same respect and genuine compassion and love as if we were standing right there. We believe in providing consistent education and hands-on training with experts in the fields of study that our regulatory body requires staff to be educated on a yearly basis in addition to other areas of interest that our staff encounter on a frequent basis including hospice care, wound care, dementia, etc.
With both private and various semi-private room options, we may have what your loved one is in need of. Medication management and administration, pharmacy services, incontinence supply management, diabetic management, hygiene care and bathing, hair and nail care, physical assistance, home-cooked meals, laundry care, all aspects of personal care and more are provided and available at our facility by high-quality, dedicated, trained and compassionate staff.
Please call us with any questions and to schedule a tour. A home small enough to feel like a home with care that will make you find the relief that you have been praying for.
We hope to assist you soon!
