Retinol is part of the Vitamin A family, also known as retinoids, and is one of the most trusted ingredients for long-term skin change. It supports healthy cell turnover, collagen production, tone, texture, and breakout regulation helping build stronger, more resilient skin with consistent use.

Vitamin A appears under several names, with retinol being the most common over-the-counter form, followed by stronger cosmetic retinal (retinaldehyde) and prescription tretinoin (retinoic acid). In the studio, options include SkinCeuticals Retinol 0.3, 0.5, and 1.0, plus PCA Skin Retinol Treatment for Sensitive Skin and PCA Intensive Age Refining Treatment.

February is where I see the biggest difference between skin that’s improving and skin that’s just getting by. After the resets, resolutions, and fresh starts of January, this is the month when consistency really matters. Winter is still very much at play - cold air outside, dry heat inside, less water intake, and more stress than we realize. Skin can start to feel dull, tight, or reactive right now, and the instinct is often to exfoliate more or switch things up. This is actually the time to do the opposite. Stick with what’s working, stay on schedule with your treatments, support your barrier, and let your skin respond. Quiet care is powerful - and February is proof of that.
