The holidays are over, and for me, this is often when grief feels louder.

Two years after losing someone I loved unexpectedly, I’ve learned that grief doesn’t always peak on the holidays themselves. Sometimes it comes after—when the noise fades, the routines return, and there’s more quiet than I expected.

If you’re feeling heavier now than you did during the holidays, I want you to know you’re not broken. Grief doesn’t follow the calendar, and however it’s showing up for you right now is valid.

Grief doesn’t come with a single emotional script—especially after the holidays.

Numbness, anger, busyness, quiet, confusion… these are all ways grief can show up when something meaningful has been lost. You don’t need to explain or justify how yours looks.

However grief is living in you right now—it’s valid.

💛 Save this for the days you need the reminder.

The holidays are over, but grief doesn’t always leave when they do.

I wrote a new blog reflecting on grief after the holidays—the quiet, unexpected waves, the numbness, the pressure to “move on,” and the many ways grief can show up this time of year.

If you’re carrying loss into the new year, I hope this feels like a reminder that you’re not alone—and that however grief is living in you right now is valid.

As the year turns, we’re wishing you a New Year that feels grounded, supported, and kind to your nervous system.

Healing doesn’t always look like big resolutions or dramatic change. Sometimes it looks like slowing down, stepping outside, and choosing care that meets you where you are.

If you’re curious about a different kind of reset—one rooted in nature, safety, and real integration—we shared more in our latest blog.

New year energy can make it feel like you need to fix yourself.

But what if this year isn’t about becoming someone new—
what if it’s about healing what’s already there?

Our latest blog breaks down how EMDR intensives can support deeper trauma healing—especially when weekly therapy hasn’t felt like enough. We also share how nature-based and animal-assisted EMDR can help the nervous system feel safer during this work.

Looking for EMDR intensives—but hoping for something that feels more grounded, supportive, and human?

At Loblolly Wellness Collective, our EMDR intensives are outdoor, trauma-informed, and animal-assisted when appropriate. We slow the work down, honor the nervous system, and create space for real integration—not overwhelm.

• Who EMDR intensives are best for
• What makes our approach different
• How nature and animals support trauma healing

For my fellow mental health professionals — I’m excited to share that I’m now offering supplemental ESA evaluations for clients who may benefit from the added support of an Emotional Support Animal.

These assessments are designed to support the work you’re already doing with your clients, not replace it. I offer both a single-day private-pay option and a three-session insurance-based option so clients can choose what feels best for them.

If you have someone who might benefit from an ESA and needs a thorough, compassionate evaluation, feel free to send them my way. Happy to collaborate, answer questions, and help make the process smooth for you and your clients.

Grateful to Pasadena Villa Outpatient, My-Therapist, Inc., and Cedar Oaks Clinic PLLC for inviting me to close out this year’s Clinical Conversations & Coffee in Wake Forest. I had the joy of presenting on integrating animals into therapy as co-therapists and healers — exploring how our animal partners support regulation, deepen connection, and enhance client engagement for clients of all ages.

Sharing the clinical benefits of animal-assisted therapy, along with how we incorporate these practices at Loblolly Wellness Collective, was such a meaningful experience. And of course, Koda was happy to demonstrate his role in the work. 🐾

Thank you to everyone who attended and held such thoughtful space. I’m continually inspired by clinicians embracing creative and holistic approaches to healing.
