If you’ve been dealing with weight gain, constant fatigue, hair loss, low mood… or that “moving through Jell-O” feeling — your thyroid might be worth a closer look 👀
Here are 5 things I’d do immediately if I thought my thyroid was off 👇
(Coming from someone with Hashimoto’s who is actively working to heal and support their body 🤍)
1️⃣ Check your Free T3
TSH alone isn’t enough. It was designed as a screening tool — and can stay “normal” even when symptoms aren’t. Free T3 is the active thyroid hormone — it’s what actually drives metabolism, energy, and function.
2️⃣ Test for thyroid antibodies (TPO + thyroglobulin)
If your body is creating antibodies against your thyroid, that’s a sign of autoimmune activity. And if you have one autoimmune issue, your risk for others increases.
3️⃣ Go gluten-free + cut processed foods for 30 days
Not glamorous, but powerful. For some people, gluten (especially enriched wheat) can trigger or worsen thyroid dysfunction and inflammation.
4️⃣ Make sure you’re getting enough selenium
This trace mineral is essential for proper thyroid hormone conversion. Low levels = your thyroid may not function optimally.
5️⃣ Work with a provider who actually listens
Being told “your labs are normal” while you feel awful isn’t the end of the story. You deserve answers, context, and a plan.
Your thyroid impacts everything — don’t ignore what your body is trying to tell you.
Save this for later & send it to someone who needs it 🤍
