“Cutting-edge therapies are available to people in East Tennessee and there are new therapies being developed every day,” says Fort Sanders Regional physician John Swisher, MD, director of the East Tennessee Pulmonary Hypertension Center and pulmonologist with StatCare Pulmonary Consultants. “There are currently 14 FDA-approved therapies specifically to treat pulmonary hypertension.”

“I had no idea what pulmonary hypertension was, but I knew I didn’t want it,” says Jimmy Grea. By the time he was 20, not one, not two, but three of his close family members had died from the incurable disorder.

East Tennessee Pulmonary Hypertension Center's Medical Director, Dr. John Swisher, is changing lives by providing a high level of care to his patients. In 2019, he was able to diagnose a patient with pulmonary hypertension and develop a treatment plan that allowed her to return to normal life.

"Dr. Swisher developed an aggressive treatment plan that would work for Barnhill. The results have been remarkable. Barnhill has gone from not being able to do much of anything to doing just about anything she wants to."

“It’s wonderful!” she says. “I thank God every day for Dr. Swisher. He is amazing.”

In addition to his work at ETPHC, Dr. Swisher practices out of StatCare Pulmonary Consultants outpatient clinic in Bearden and Fort Sanders Regional Medical Center. For more information, visit our main website at https://statcaremed.net/ or call us at (865) 588-8831 to schedule an appointment.
