To my patients,
I am now officially on maternity leave and will not be back in the clinic until October. During my absence, feel free to continue to be seen as usual. My colleagues, including Dr. Ken Kozawa, Jacob Gallaher, Thomas Vance, Renae Cagle, Dawn Frerichs, and Michelle Davis will be in office available to meet your needs. All of your refill needs, phone calls, and any incoming faxes from different specialists or pharmacies will continue to be addressed by clinic staff. Please be patient during this time of transition. Also please be aware I will not be logging into this account, replying to patient portal messages, or doing anything involving the hospital/clinic during these few months. I look forward to seeing all of you in the fall.

We recommend scheduling an appointment with her prior to her extended absence to address any needs. Sweetwater Hospital has a new urologist in house.

Sweetwater Hospital Association is excited to welcome Urologist, Dr. Ryan Layman. 🩺 Dr. Layman is a Southeast Tennessee native who graduated from McMinn County High School in 2008. He received a Bachelor of Science in Biology from Lee University in Cleveland, TN, and his Medical Doctorate from The University of Tennessee College of Medicine in Memphis. Dr. Layman completed his Urology residency at Louisiana State University in Shreveport in 2021. Following residency, he served in the US Air Force as a urologist at Keesler Air Force Base in Biloxi, Mississippi, achieving the rank of Major, and was awarded the Air and Space Commendation Medal for Meritorious Service. During his time in Mississippi, Dr. Layman also served on staff at multiple hospitals across the Mississippi Gulf Coast, helping provide critical urology coverage in this region.

In 2025, Dr. Layman returned to Tennessee with his family, led by his long-standing passion for the Southern Appalachian region and its culture & people. He joined Sweetwater Hospital Association to re-establish their urology service and bring advanced urologic care to the area. Dr. Ryan Layman is adept at treating a wide range of urologic issues, including kidney stones, urologic cancers, benign prostate enlargement, women’s urinary incontinence and pelvic organ prolapse, erectile dysfunction, vasectomy & vasectomy reversal, and pediatric urology. He offers minimally-invasive surgical techniques and DaVinci robotic-assisted surgery. Aside from his urology practice, Dr. Layman enjoys spending time with his lovely wife & children and exploring the nearby outdoor recreation. If you are a patient of Dr. Ken Kozawa or any of his providers, (Kellie Gallaher, FNP, Jacob Gallaher, PA-C, Renea Cagle, FNP, Michelle Davis, FNP, Dawn Frerichs, FNP, Thomas Vance, FNP), at Sweetwater Hospital Association, it has come to our attention that the United Healthcare patients currently being seen at this office are receiving letters 🗒️stating that this office is no longer taking their insurance. These letters are false causing confusion among patients. Please note that this provider clinic does take United Healthcare patients. Dr. Ken Kozawa and his providers look forward to continuing to care for their patients. 🩺 Again we apologize for any confusion.
