I had the precious delight of attending a therapeutic retreat in Scotland and, in the midst of it, took a little pilgrimage to say 'hello and thank you' to George MacDonald in the place he was born.

Like CS Lewis (who considered MacDonald to be his "literary master") I feel like MacDonald gently discipled me through his writings - into a deep love and acceptance of the Mystery of God, but in a way that made it seem intimate, kind, and like I ought to explore it forever.

"Room to roam" is how he described Aberdeen. And there truly is. Geographically and spiritually. I see how he was able to write such beautiful stories with all the stunning "room" that saturated his formative years.

I've been thinking about this a lot recently. "What if I weren't afraid of anything?" Not in the bodily, survival sense that keeps us alive.. but in the fear-based-thinking and learned beliefs that don't make me Excellent, they just make me feel bolstered from invisible threats. What if I weren't afraid of rejection, or separation, or doing taxes?

I'd have so much more room to receive people, to connect, and to enjoy my journey through the world.

I'd love to see all of us a little more free from fear and a lot more f u l l of the kind of Love that Changes Everything. What a worthwhile journey ✨🌹✨
