While I am not currently taking birth doula clients with Scruffy City Doula, since I am currently growing my own tiny human, I will have some spots open to help develop birth plans. My doula experience will allow me to guide you through informed decision-making. I will even have everything typed out and laminated for you! To take to your plave of birth!

I am happy contribute in other ways as well, if you have any idea - I’m all ears!

⭐️ BIG ANNOUNCEMENT ⭐️

I have exciting news! I am honored to announce that I have joined Scruffy City Doula’s new doula agency. The women that run this business are truly inspirational and they have been the absolute best mentors to me, helping me to build my skill set and really understand the ins and outs of this beautiful profession. I will keep my website and my business page up for a couple more months, but all inquiries for my services should be made through their website, www.scruffycitydoula.com. I’m so excited for this new chapter in my career and I foresee nothing but amazing things for the future!

“ ✨ I arrived with only minutes to go. Upon walking in, camera in hand, the midwife got down on her level, and looked at her gently.

“Mama, I know you’ve waited for the photographer. But she’s here now. You can push if you want to.”

My mind raced, “How did she hold 2 babies in there...” but alas, laboring people are resilient. We do what we have to do to get the outcome that we want.

I glanced at her above my viewfinder. It was dark. The room was quiet.

“I don’t want to.” She spoke.
“I don’t want to be in labor.”

A room of 8 of us. All women. Holding space around her. A feeling so real, so true, that there was nothing to say. Just to nod in agreement. To nod in respect.

After reassurance that she did not have to push until she was absolutely ready, a contraction came, and with it she pushed.

In the water was her son.

She looked up at us all after catching her breath.
“What just happened?!”
I stared back, “You tell me.””
