It’s National Recovery Month! 💜
All month long, we’re spotlighting the incredible team members at Knoxville Recovery Center who make healing possible.
Meet Meg, our Clinical Director at KRC:
💬 What does recovery mean to you?
Recovery means:
• “Not being on the sidelines of your life”
• “Living a life you don’t feel the need to escape from”
• “Being able to find and hold peace amongst the chaos of life”
💬 What inspires you to do this work?
Seeing life come back to a person, that glow returning, and them finding how to be in the flow of life… that’s what inspires me to do this work.
💬 What would you say to someone just starting their recovery journey?
What feels like breaking down is really just breaking free. Break wide open, dare to let go of the things that no longer serve you, and make space for the incredible things to enter your life that have been waiting for you to make space for them.
As Brené Brown says, "Vulnerability is the birthplace of change."
You have to welcome vulnerability with arms wide open, and your life will change.
💬 How has working in this field changed you?
It’s given me passion, resiliency, knowledge, strength, and wisdom. It forces me to continue to challenge myself to always be open to learning and growing.
💬 Do you have a quote, song, or mantra that keeps you grounded?
“Peace be still”
💬 Was there a moment in your life that changed how you think about recovery?
That’s a hard question. I honestly don’t know. I feel as though I have always believed in a person’s capacity to overcome, to change, to heal.
💬 Who’s someone that made a difference in your story?
I have been incredibly lucky in my life to have had 3 really amazing mentors, whom without I would not be where I am today.
💬 What’s your favorite part of working at HCANA?
The family aspect. There is so much support and compassion for the staff. This is not just a place of growth for our clients, but also for our staff. It’s a place that fosters creativity; which is vital in this field.
Thank you for showing up with such heart, clarity, and strength, Meg. We’re lucky to have you ❤️
