🦷 Case Highlight: Swelling Isn’t Something to Ignore 🦷
Last week, a patient came in for facial swelling, something we always take seriously. After an exam, we suspected a tooth root abscess, which required dental X-rays to confirm the diagnosis.
Once the patient was safely sedated and we began the dental procedure, we discovered something unexpected… 👀
👉 A foreign object lodged between the back teeth!
Swipe to see the before and after of removal 📸➡️
This is a great reminder that swelling can be caused by a variety of issues, from infections to hidden debris, and it’s not always obvious without a thorough exam and diagnostics.
✅ Don’t ignore swelling
✅ Regular dental check-ups matter
✅ X-rays help us see what isn’t visible
Your pet (or your own dental health!) depends on catching these problems early.
If you notice swelling, bad breath, or discomfort, don’t wait. Let’s take a closer look! 🐾🦷

Not all lumps are harmless.
If you notice a new mass on your pet, early evaluation can make a real difference in outcomes.
Meet Sydney 🐾
During a routine nose-to-tail physical exam, our doctor discovered a small mass near her a**l gland. To determine whether it was inflammation or something more serious, we rechecked her in 3 weeks—but the mass hadn’t changed.
Sydney was then scheduled for surgery to remove the affected a**l gland, and the tissue was sent out for biopsy. Within 10 days, we had an answer: Apocrine Gland A**l Sac Adenocarcinoma (AGASACA), a malignant and locally invasive cancer in dogs.
The good news: because the mass was caught early and completely removed with clean margins, oncology specialists recommended no additional radiation or chemotherapy.
Sydney’s story is a powerful reminder of how important routine exams and early intervention can be. If you ever notice a new lump, bump, or change in your pet, don’t wait—have it checked.
Early detection saves lives. 🐶💙

🐾 Meet Henley! 🐶💕
Henley is 13 weeks old and visited us today for her DAPP and Leptospirosis vaccines—such a brave girl! 💉✨ She’ll be back in a couple of weeks to finish up her final core vaccines and stay on track for a healthy start to life.
Core vaccines protect dogs from serious, highly contagious (and sometimes fatal) diseases. Keeping your dog up to date isn’t just about their health—it also helps protect other pets and people.
Here are the core vaccines we recommend:
• Rabies
Required by law in most areas and protects against a deadly virus that can be transmitted to humans.
• DAPP (Distemper, Adenovirus, Parvovirus, Parainfluenza)
A combination vaccine that protects against several severe illnesses affecting the respiratory and gastrointestinal systems.
• Leptospirosis (Lepto)
A bacterial infection spread through water or wildlife that can cause liver and kidney damage, and can also spread to humans.
Vaccines are one of the simplest and most effective ways to give your dog a long, healthy life. Not sure if your pet is up to date? We’re happy to help!
📞 Call us at 865-966-8900 to schedule your dog’s vaccine visit or ask any questions.
